I am planning a baby shower for my sister who is adopting a baby boy from Guatemala. I need ideas for favors. Please help!

For Ava's christening we did cookies, those iced ones, sugar in Baby themes. we purchased the clear bags from wilton and tied with a tag we made and ribbon.

Another couple did little duck cookies for the baby shower! really really cute!

All cookies were purchased from a local bakery for about 1.00 each.

My mom for Ava's shower (although she was lumpy at the time) got angel bears from Oriental trading. Very cute.

How about picture frames with a picture of the baby inside.

Chocolate bars with the info designed on the wrapper are great. I myself am not a fan of homemade edible items as favors. However nice, it gives me the creeps.

Please don't do the "diapers" with melted chocolate inside. How gross!

I like to do votive candles. I've done them several different ways. Wrap in tulle and tie with ribbon, add a note card and charm. Just tie with ribbon and add a notecard, tie with ribbon and a charm, put a label on it. The label or notecard usually has cute font and maybe a clip art or two and has a little poem and the shower info-name, date, etc. Guests usually like these beacause they can use them.

I always think these threads are interesting. I've never been to a shower with favors for the guests - though I have seen them at many weddings.

We are hosting a shower for my SIL and are getting baby themed cookie cutters and attaching this:

Recipe for Motherhood

Ingredients Needed

1 Heart full of love
1 Head full of understanding
2 Eyes in the back of your head
3 Heaping cups of patience
1 Gallon of generosity
1 Barrel of laughter

Mix well. Sprinkle with kindness, add plenty of faith.
Heat with sunshine and spread generously over a lifetime
for a plateful of joy and a cup of warm memories.

A friend of mine did her nursery in chocolate brown and baby blue... so it became sort of a theme. :) She got little clear chinese take-away containers and filled them with brown and baby blue M&Ms, and put a matching brown and baby blue polkadotted ribbon on top. Very cute. (And yummy on my 2 hour drive home!!! :) )

Favors aren't done around here either, weddings or showers. Occasionally at a wedding you might get some candy at your place but that is about it.

That's a party game - not a favor.

(And the shower I went to it was actually pretty fun!)

You can order M&Ms in any color you want on the M&M website. I think you can also get stuff written on them as well.

Not a favor, but I once went to a shower where the host bought packages of Thank You cards and had each guest address one to herself. I think she stamped them before giving them to the expectant mom. Mom was expecting twins and went on complete bedrest the day or so after the shower. This saved mom lots of time looking for addresses and doing envelopes!

We threw one once with close friends. We made homemade cinnamon buns, put each in a decorative plastic wrap, and tagged them with a little paper saying 'Thank you from _________'s bun in the oven'.
