We are going to be having our 3rd child within the next few weeks and are having trouble picking out a name. We have a list of 8 names picked out.

Over Christmas we let our relatives and friends vote on the names and we would take the top 2 and make the final decision. Well, it ended in a 3 way tie.

So we decided to take a poll of our DIS friends and see what they liked.

So if you could vote on the name you like that would be great.

I chose Jessica because that is what we were going to name DS if he had been a girl. I love the name Jessica and I also love the short form of the name, Jess or Jessa.

If I had to make a second choice I would pick Isabella, I love the short form of bella, which is beautiful in Italian.

Good luck making your choice and congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your newest child.:sunny:

Sometimes you just don't know until you hold your baby in your arms. Then, "bam" xxxx just "fits"!::yes::

It's really hard to choose without knowing the last name - I like to hear the sound of the whole name together. However, I picked Alysse. I might change the spelling to Elyse, but I think it's a beautiful name!

Good luck with your decision! :sunny:

I would have been a real dork if I didn't pick Amanda - that's DD's name.;)

I didn't see "Dana" on the list. :) Just remember, "Dana" can be used for both male and female. Congratulations! :sunny:

beautiful names! I chose Erica because I like the name, and its also one I haven't heard in a while. At our playgroups and groups of friends new babies there are lots of Isabelles, Amandas, Madisons, and Jessicas (not to mention Emilys, Olivias and Graces). All very pretty, but I have a feeling there will be several in each class

I chose Madison because I looove that name! I have a friend named Kirsten and people are ALWAYS calling her Kristen and it drives her bonkers! Just a piece of advice!

Is that Ah-lease? Or Alissa?

I like Ah-Lease...but I would spell it Aleece.

On a sidenote I just noticed that I have been tagged...:smooth:

The name Alysse is pronounced A-Lease.

My Father-in-law was a grade school teacher and he said that names like Kristen, Kirsten and Krista would always give him fits. So we are taking into consideration the fact of confussion on pronouncing names.

Also, as of right now the 3 names that tied for 1st in our family voting are in last on the DIS poll.

I agree, sometimes when you hold your baby in your arms, you "just know." But I voted for Isabelle anyway--I just LOVE this name--it's different and classic at the same time.:)

A vote for Erica here. :) What were the names in the 3-way tie? That would narrow it to 3, wouldn't it? I was going to vote for Kristen, but I see that it's Kirsten. LOL! I even live on a street named Erica! ;)

Interesting that the names your family likes are coming in last here! A friend of mine gave his son an unusual name. An Austrian name actually. I can relate as far as my maiden name always having to be spelled! Well, his son got tired of having to spell his name for everyone and started going by "Jack." LOL! When my friend went to a meeting with his son's teacher and asked how he was doing...using his correct name...his teacher said...who? Oh, you mean Jack? LOL! My friend was a little taken aback. ;) Watch the names you pick!

Tough choice, but I like kirsten the best I think.

I had to pick Jessica because that is my dd's name. I have always loved that name and now we call her Jess or Jessica.

Of all of the choices I like Amanda best.

I agree with DoeWDW, without knowing the last name it's tough to tell how well it would match.

I also agree with Wagamama and Raysplus1 that Kirsten can be confused and your child might spend her whole life correcting teachers and friends that it's KIRsten and not KRIsten.

I grew up with the same name as 6 other girls in my class. Therefore, my advice is to try and stay away from "trendy" and popular names as it can be a pain having the same name as many others.

Congrats! and best wishes!

I tried to vote and it told me I voted before????? Hmmm, since I don't recall voting before, I wonder which name I picked?

If I could have voted (again? ) I would have voted for Amanda. I've always loved that name. Be careful with Kirsten - that is my niece's name and she is forever being called Kristen. Still a beautiful name though, as are all of your choices. :)

I love the name Brianna but Gabrielle is my absolute favorite name.
