How do you travel with the bottled water for mixing the formula? I have heard that thetap water is dreadful but I can't imagine packing a gallon of water in my suitcase either. Any suggestions? :wizard:

If you are using a town car service with a free grocery stop, you can pick up some water jugs. This is what I plan to do when we go next month.

HWne my kids were that small I drove. So I did pack the water. When I ran out If i needed more at a park I would buy regular bottled water but not cold I would ask for room temp water and use that.

If your are traveling with a baby I assume your going to need more than just water, you will likely need baby food, formula, diapers etc. Rather than packing it consider buying it when you arrive or having a grocery delivery ship it to your resort.

If your renting a car stop at a grocery outside of WDW for best selection and prices. Ifyour using a towncar service most provide a free 30 minute grocery stop. If your taking advantage of the free Disney Magical Express service then I would consider having a service deliver the items to you after you arrive. I used www.wegoshop.com and they were great. I made my grocery list with brands and preferences and they did the shopping at the most reasonable store for most of my needs. IIRC there is a $50.00 minimum so depending on your lenght of stay this would be easy to reach.

FWIW, baby items are very $$ without much variety onsite at WDW.

When my girls were babies I would fill a couple baby bottles with water and carry the powder to mix as needed. Then if you do run out in the parks water is sold everywhere, just ask for a warm one or buy it before you need it to let it warm up.

I am still trying to decide on the premix formula so I don't have to bother with water at all but if I do, I'll bring bottled water and just carry one in the diaper bag. 1 water a day seems to be enough.

I didn't think the park/resort water was really that bad, but if you're concerned about it I have a possible solution if you are on the DDP.

You can get a 24oz bottle of Desani water for one snack credit. If your child is on solid food already, that should be more than enough water to last an entire day.

I packed pre-mixed formula and powder in my luggage. We had Wego shop deliver baby ood, bottled water and snacks. I brought the bottled water into the parks with the powder and moxed when needed.

I have heard of people getting water from resturants without a problem (I am sure it is as clean as home). For me it was just easier to bring my own and not worry about standing in lines.

As a mom of children that get the runs on vacation. I suggest bottled water..

As your body gets used to the germs in your hometown water.

You go someplace else and they get sick and then you deal with that. People think I am crazy, but then relate to me how sometimes it happens to them when they drink tap water..

How old is your child? Could you possible change to whole milk?
My daughter gave up the bottle at 10 mos. and I went strait to to whole milk. I asked the Ped. and she said "well we recommed formula for 1 year. But hey we most likely went to whole milk at that time. "

Just a thought...

We just used the tap water and didn't find it to be a problem. Inside the parks, all the baby care stations have bottled water you can use if you are concerned. We never had any problems with the tap water though.

I wish we could make the switch but he is on Soy and is only 8 months old. I think we will just pack a few waters and buy it in the park when we run out. We are also on the DDP so I will use 1 of those daily for him.

We drove so we took some bottles of water with us - then before we checked in we stopped at the store and purchased a case of bottled water. One day we did run out and just bought room temp water at the park. I carried the powdered formula in the little container you get at the Baby Store where it has 4 compartments to pre-measure your formula. It worked great for us. A word of caution I wouldn't switch to pre-mixed if you haven't been using it already. It is a different consistancy than the formula you mix yourself and sometimes little ones - particularly my two who had feeding probs - can't handle the pre-mixed formula.

you know when my youngest was still on formula, I purchased little 4 oz bottles of nursery water at my local food store (Krogers). They were light and you could pop them in the diaper bag and when it was time just add the powder formula to the bottle then add the water. Shake and their you go a bottle for a hungry baby..lol

Why don't you just check with the hotel.
See if they are willing to GIVE you hot/warm water from their food court.
Usually they do, usually most hotels do.
Even airlines do.

That is a very good point! You can bring a few bottles or an empty water bottle and stop at the baby care center. They have a large bottled water in each, which you can fill your bottle up with. Never thought of this!

I love nursery water. We used both ready made formula and powder for our DD her first two trips. Now our DS is on ready made he won't drink powder! I am trying to figure out how to pack a days worth of formula for him. BTW they only sell his formula in 32 ounce cans no 8 ounce. Back to the water ? I brought nursery water with me to the parks or bought bottled water. Nothing against disney water I use bottled at home too!

I like the filter sports bottle I use for myself. The water at Disney just makes my stomach hurt..... Anyway, the filter bottle is light and refillable, so you can have it filled partway or fill it from a fountain when you want to mix up a baby bottle, filter the water into the baby bottle and go. No need to carry lots of water (heavy!) all at once or even buy it, but it's available when you need it. :)

Maybe you could call the formula manufactor and ask if they have ready made formula in small cans or even the small bottles you get at the hospital. You could even possibly call your local hospital and talk to the newborn department, maybe they would sell you a small case..

Buy the stuff when you get there. We shopped at Super Target and Walmart several times for "essentials". Walmart was in Kissimmee and I dont recall where Super Target was but were both close by. We stayed at CSR. :sunny:

My DD wouldn't drink a bottle unless it was very warm so I couldn't just carry around a bottle of water. I would have had to heat it up. So instead of doing that I would just ask a restaurant or just about any counter service and they would give us a cup of hot water and a cup of ice (to cool it a little). Thats how we made our bottles. No one ever seemed annoyed by us asking for it.

You could also carry a thermos and keep warm water in it.
