Not sure if this is the right forum, but figured I would start here.

Does anyone know or have experience of how much baby food can be packed in a diaper bag and carry on for flying? We are going to be using our carry on as our son's luggage and wanted to pack food in there for him.

Thanks!

TSA will allow you to bring a "reasonable amount" of baby food and/or formula to reach your destination. Depending on where you are traveling from and how long a flight, I would still plan for a full day's worth since delays occur and you don't want to get stuck at the airport without enough to feed your baby. You'll need to declare it before TSA starts to screen your bags. Here is the link: www.tsa.gov/traveling-formula-breast-milk-and-juice

If you are trying to take a week's worth with you in a carry-on, you'll likely get push back on the amount. I'd suggest packing some into a checked bag or ship it ahead to your resort, or schedule a grocery delivery to your resort.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks for the quick response. I was aiming to do a full day's prep just in case like you had mentioned. We are going to do the grocery delivery to help make it easier. Thanks for the link, too!

I would pack the baby food on top in the carryon in case TSA agents want you to get it out. would hate to have to unpack bag to reach baby food on the bottom of the bag. also have some of baby food in a bag that goes under seat, not all in overhead bag. as at times you might not be able to get to bag in overhead. could be so crowded in overheads as to have to get everything out just to get to bag with baby food

Plan on taking it out, and possibly having the labels removed. We flew in October and in one airport they examined it and put it in a machine, in the other airport they took all the labels off and put it in the same machine. Next trip I am putting it in its own bag so I can just pull it out, I had it all over the diaper bag so I could fit everything it wasn't fun.

Also fun flying tip, if you have a carrier and aren't taking a stroller both airports let me keep my DD in the carrier for security, not sure if that will be every where but it made my life way easier.
