Has anyone gate checked their carseat on the plane? Have you been allowed to use the carseat on the plane if there is room? Used car seat on magical express? Leaving wednesday am and I am rethinking the carseat thing.

You cannot use any carseat on ME as there are NO seatbelts.

Regarding your other ?, did you purchase a seat for you child who'll be using the carseat with hopes of availability? ...

I believe you can only bring a carseat on if you purchased a ticket. Other than that it will be gated. We just returned on Indpendence and the flight was only 1/2 full. However, I watch them gate someone's car seat because they had not purchased a seat. We, however, bought our granddaughter a seat and had no problem with bringing her carseat on.

I was under the impression that if the plane was not full, that you could use a seat for an infant. I would call the airline directly and ask what their policy is. Although I have never gate checked a car seat before, I know that you can.

I'm planning on checking my old car seat in with the luggage, my sister is lending me the carrier bag for the car seat - we're renting a car, so I'm just trying to save the $9.00/fee to rent the car seat...
