Baby bottle on plane? What r the rules?

I have to bring 2- 8 oz baby bottles on the plane when we go to Disney. I know the airports had strict rules about fluids (no more than 4 oz..or something like that) but they have changed the rules since mainly because of mothers w/baby bottle..like myself, but I can't remember how many oz. I am allowed to bring on the plane. Do any of you know?

"Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding 3.4 ounces (100ml) and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint."

When we travelled last year out of Providence, I had a bottle of milk for DS1. All I had to do was open the bottle. They waved a stick over the opening and then wiped my hand to make sure I had no explosives on it.

DD5 thought that was cool and asked to have her hand wiped too.

On the way back I had an empty bottle so I am not sure what they do out of MCO.

Also SW does not have milk onboard. We had an early flight and I forget to get some milk at the airport before we boarded. Luckily DS slept most of the way back and didn't really notice his bottle.

As stated above baby formula, juice & milk for babies/toddlers and baby food are exempt from the 3oz rules. Check the TSA website for details.

At the risk of offering more than you asked..... consider bringing twice what you think you may need in case of delays. Most airports don't have much available in the way of baby supplies and you don't want to be caught short.

A few extra diapers, change of clothing and maybe even some powdered formula could be a lifesaver in the event of a delay. When my kids were babies/toddlers I always brought along a change of top for me as well... you never know

I learnt this the hard way....bottles leak in pressurisation...put them in zip lock bags

We travel with grand babies all of the time. Taking baby items through security is not a huge deal (anymore). Just have the baby with you! Our trip in October, I had applesauce cups and juice boxes in my zip lock bag, but the TSA agent sent me to a different line than the kids. One TSA person asked about it (normally they don't ask). I had it out sitting, so was not hiding it. I said it was for the baby and she asked where the baby was, so we had to yell 4 lanes over, "hold up the baby". Her response to me, "next time stay with the baby". I said "I tried, but you guys sent us to this line and split us up." Taking a normal amout of baby bottles and food is allowed. Alot of TSA folks are very kid friendly and family friendly. Every now and then you encounter one who is sour and those are the ones people post about.

Also, if you need to heat the bottle up, ask for a cup of hot water as soon as you get on the plane and the FA will help you out. Too late after take off to warm that bottle.

Just make sure you take the bottles out of the diaper bag and show them before you go through security. I was in line once and the mom in front of me didn't and after her bag when through they pulled her aside and gave her a hard time about "hiding" the bottles and not letting them know she had them.

I'm sure she wasn't, she just forgot them, but her argumentative attitude towards the TSA wasn't helping her case

Just another thought, can you make the bottle after you get through security? You said bottles, but you didn't say if they were formula or breast milk, so I wasn't sure. I used to just buy a bottle of water warm water (I'd ask the stores for a room temp bottle) after I got through security. Or if I didn't need a bottle for a little bit, I'd ask the flight attendant as soon as I got on the plane for some water for my son's bottles so I could have it ready for when he was hungry (not sure if they were so helpful because my husband is a pilot for the airlines or because they wanted to help keep a baby as happy as can be ).
