Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

I love all the pictures! I was just watching Monsters Inc the other day, I want a giant sulley!! I love that movie. You guys are so close to your trip, i'm so jealous!!

Jill, Sully is sooo cute!! :goodvibes I think the Disney Store we go to is closing also, I live in RI, so we go to the Mall in Waterford CT. right over the RI/CT line...I am going in October for a long weekend. but its later than your family is going..Staying at POP. I wish we could`ve been able to meet..
I noticed you went back to work. Did you go back to A Day Care or Pre-school setting? I worked in Day Care for a long time as a Aide,,loved it! might go back in Sept after Annie goes to K. (My last of 3)
I loved the countdown calander also!!! :cutie:

LOVE the party pics!!!! I'd like to have one of those hotdogs, and while you're up, make me a countdown calendar please . . . . :rolleyes1

I can't believe I read the whole thing! It only took me two days at work, but hey, I did it! ;)

MeMom, you remind me SO much of my mom, and how much she adores her grandkids (my two kids)... and we take them to Disneyworld every chance we can too. You've inspired us to spend one extra night before our week at the Polynesian at POP. You had me at "Spin and Marty" at the beginning of this TR. They were my mom's favorites as well.

LOVE the pictures. Seriously. You should have some of them framed.

Jill-

That calendar is a great idea, I will have to make one for Declan for next year's trip. He loves crossing the numbers off the calendar, and we've done the chain, but this is so much better.

Yay! We love having new readers along! I hope you'll make yourself at home here, along with all of our old faithful pals.

It's hard for me to explain how I feel about family. I came from an uninvolved and unaffectionate family as I grew up, but I was the total opposite in raising my own kids. They mean the world to me, and Brooklynn just adds to the joy. Being around her is so much like doing it all over with Jill, because so many of the things she does remind me of things her mommy did.

TCKK - You like chicken and dumplings? I think people either hate them or love them. I love them - along with dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and fried apples...mmmmm mmmmm!

Anyone reading this, you need to check out the pictures over on TCKK's pre-trip report. There is a future Disney artist blooming over there!:artist:

punkin413 - Yours was the inspiration for this one. If one of us always has a countdown calendar going, it helps us all in our waiting.

Nicole - We still have seats available for the 28th. You can always drive up for the day, you know?

carrieannie - Jill is working just four days a week now, and it is in childcare. She really likes where she's at, and the stress and pressure are nothing like what she had at the other place as the director. She needed to spend more time being a wife and mommy and be able to leave her work behind her at the end of the day, and this job allows for that.

pooksma - I know you have many great pictures to make a calendar with, too!

Lovemy3babes - Just do it! Go drag the toys out and start planning and playing. It's a lot of fun, and your kids will love it!

I 'talked' with Glendamax this morning through PMs. She and I have 4 a.m. chats sometimes, since she works nights and I don't sleep late. She's headed toward Disney World for her birthday trip, so keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she travels. snowbell will be there, too, and I hope they will be able to meet up for a minute. I wish them both awesome, awesome Disney adventures in the coming week!!!

I am so glad to be all caught up your tr. I wasn't able to be on the computer for the past couple of weeks due to computer problems. :badpc: I don't know how many times I thought about what you were doing in your tr. Those chicken and dumplings sound so good. Do you mind sharing your recipe? You can pm it to me if you want. Glad to hear that you enjoyed your minidismeet. I too worked in day care for alot of years and this past fall I was blessed with being able to stay home and watch my neighbors little girl. Day care can be very rewarding but it is hard work too, just like teaching can be. Well tjat is all I have time for now the kids are up from their nap.

I just got a phone call from Glendamax. She's in line at Buzz Lightyear. She says it is sooooo hot and there are soooo many people there. She said it just like that, so I believe her!

Yes, I love chicken and dumplings, although I've never made them myself. I only get them on holidays when my mom makes them. Her mom used to make them on holidays and I always ate them then and now my mom makes them for us. I guess I'll have to learn how to make them so I can continue the tradition. Although I don't think my girls like them that much, but maybe some day my grandchildren will.

Thanks for the plug for my DD's pictures on our PTR. She was very pleased to hear that people might come and look at her pictures. Thank you :flower3:

TCKK - Your daughter deserves the plug. I would never have been able to enjoy her pictures if you hadn't been willing to share with us, so thanks!

On the last update, I see that after Toontown, I had us leaving. As I looked back at my pictures, however, it shows that we did a couple of things before we left.

So, erase the sleeping-Brooklynn-on-the-bus picture from your mind, and go back in time with me, if you will.

We left this area

but we didn't leave the park.

My faithful camera diary tells me that we went this way

319.jpg

and ended up here.

322.jpg

Jill and Kay went in to get our food, and Brooklynn and I went over to get a table by the water to wait for them.

I can't remember if it was too hot or too windy or what, but we decided not to eat there, so we went back over to Casey's and ate inside.

We ate at Casey's on a bench. Jill just stretched out on the floor.

Next, I know you will be surprised, we shopped! Those pictures coming up next.

On a side note:
There's been a lot of talk about the change in the Casey's hot dog buns, but we liked them just fine. We're used to eating wheat bread anyway, and Casey's was kind of a white/wheat mix. It wasn't hard and grainy - it was very soft. We had no complaints, but I guess people who are totally used to white bread don't like to see the little flecks of grain in their bread. But even Jill, who is pretty much a white bread person and a fairly picky eater, liked them just fine. So, anyone who is having doubts about going to Casey's after hearing bad reports, we think it's safe to go. That's actually something Jill has just mentioned in the last couple of days - how much she's looking forward to a Casey's hot dog.

Gather up, girls, it's time to shop! (I apologize for the blurriness.)

Jill is building up a floating Disney ducks collection for Brooklynn.

I think we got some cookies and brownies from the bakery for family and friends.

We saw this friend - one of my favorites. I tried to angle so as not to get the other guest in the photo, since we weren't going to be waiting in line. Of course, in doing that, I got a whole 'nuther family in the background. Oh, well. I guess I'm not so smart after all.

And another friend.

Okay, so that does it for the Magic Kingdom, and this time it was for real. Now you can go back to the sleeping-Brooklynn-on-a-bus moment, and later we will continue the trip.

I was getting sad looking at all of the leaving Main Street pictures, because I can remember the feeling so well. But, I consoled myself with the fact that we have only three weeks left before we will be walking those streets again!!!

I know we're nuts about all things Disney, but I just do not understand how some people can walk those magical streets and just never want to return again. They have that "been there, done that" thought, and one time really was enough for them. I know it's good that everyone is different, though, because if everyone thought like Jill and I do about Disney World, it would be even more packed every day of the year.

I wonder how many trips we would have to make before either of us said we just didn't want to go back for a long time. I know the answer has to be more than six times in one year, though, because we're still as goofy as ever over this upcoming trip, and Jill's trip with friends in October, and our Thanksgiving trip!

That was great update!!! Made me want some of the yummy sweet treats!!! Thank you for all the detail you put into you pictures!! makes everything more magical!!

I know what you mean. I have 2 friends at work that have gone and taken their family and they don't really care about going back. In fact, the one girl really didn't like it. I keep telling her she needs to go with me sometime and then she'd love it. I think that people that don't love it, only think about the amusement type fast rides. They miss out on all the fantasy and imagination rides. I love the roller coasters and stuff, but it's the other rides and just the whole Disney atmosphere that makes it so great IMO. :) Another friend at work loves Disney but his wife just really doesn't care about going back. He wants to go stay for about 6 months and enjoy each of the resorts, but that's not her thing. He says I'm lucky that my DH is as crazy about Disney as I am. I think he's right :thumbsup2

Let me echo that sentiment. I continue to be amazed at my love for Disney. I find such incredible wonder and delight in walking those streets and soaking in the sights, sounds and experiences at Disney. There is a seam in the sidewalk I step over every time I walk though the train station and enter Main Street that makes me believe in magic and pixie dust and fairies every time. I know I've entered another world, a world of fantasy and make-believe. And, even as a 52 year old man, I revel in the sheer joy that floods over me. Give me an annual pass and 3-4 trips in October through February every year and I'd be a happy guy. Sadly, my wife doesn't get it either. Oh well, I'll keep working on her. pixiedust:

great update! i wish i could sit out on the water at casey's and enjoy a hot dog, but the ducks are just too much for me out there. casey's is ray's favorite - he could eat there at every meal while at disney and be perfectly happy! it would save me some money for sure! :rotfl:

i don't understand the "been there, done that" thing either. but i definitely agree with you - i'm glad everyone isn't as nuts over disney as we are. it would make things WAY more complicated in planning a trip!

i went to anna's last night and went over our plan with her for our december trip (she, chris and luke are coming with us this time) because i make our first ADR tomorrow!!! i have to make them daily since we're not staying on property. anyway, it was so cool to talk disney with her and show her the menus of the restaurants and pictures of the places we'll go. she was very excited! i love sharing the magic!!! :goodvibes

3 weeks............:hyper:

MeMom your post are dangerous for those on a diet. Must you show all of the wonderful sweets at the Bakery? The only thing that saved me is I do not have those wonderful treats in my house at this time.

Thanks for thinking of me when you saw the license plate I am honored. Also thanks for the update on Glenamax, to bad we are not in line with her.

I love these pictures! They remind me of my favorite part of Morris the Moose Goes to School--the candy shop!

I love the angle of this picture! Yeah, you may have gotten another family, but the picture is very cool. It's kind of fun seeing what's happening on the other side instead of the usual line of people waiting for their turn.:)

I love WDW, but I've only been once. It was so much fun, but if I hadn't found the Dis Board or Tour Guide Mike, I might have missed a lot of the magic. Well, who am I kidding, I did miss a lot of the magic because I did the commando thing. ;) The next time I go back I will slow down my pace and not try to pack so much stuff into my trip. One of the many reasons I like your TR is you take so many pictures (with cool angles) and show me things I haven't seen before.

I skipped over the last pictures because you said it was shopping and specifically called in the girls. ;) I did slow down for the food pictures.

I totally agree about Main Street. It is totally amazing to take that first walk down Main Street and take it all in. The last walk out is always a sad one.

I've never tried Casey's and it looks yummy! I love a good ol' fashioned hotdog so we'll have to try this on our next trip I think. :) I've only been once and still don't get the "been there, done that" attitude either. I'd like to go multiple times for the rest of my life if I had my way. ;)
