And OH MAN do I feel your pain there!!!! We have been decluttering and slowly letting things go ever since we moved out of our house (of only 6.5 years!!) in '09. Every move makes us go "UGH!.....too much stuff!!". We have even looked around this current place and determined that most of what we have in here, is not coming on the next move. Either we don't need it (clutter, never-used items, etc.) or it's old furniture and it'll be time to start over in the new destination!

So, yesterday I turned 50. 50.... Five-O. :scared1: I'm not really sure how that happened. Wasn't I 30 like, last week?!! Sure feels like it. This has turned out to be "that" birthday for me, the one where you stop and look around and wonder. The next phase. ::sigh:: And I've decided to chronicle it in a few ways. First, I bought myself this REALLY cool journal (I love to write); it's leather-bound and looks like something right out of Lord of the Rings. It's my 50th-year journal. :coffee: I am also doing a photo-a-day project, as well as this really neat app I got on my phone called "1 Second Every Day." You shoot a short video, every day, and trim it down to your selected 1-second snippet. At the end of the year (or however long you want to do it), you can then view the collection of 365 seconds of your life! I'm a tad nostalgic like that. ::yes::

As you can also see in my siggie, I've gone ahead and made a countdown to a trip I really, truly hope will happen. 2017 will be our 25th anniversary year, and mid-January is right around my birthday. We already have the park passes, and the Memory Maker package. What better way to use them! Basically I just have to save for the resort and food. All in all, not that much, and if life can stop throwing us major curve-balls, totally do-able. At the very least, it's something to have on my horizon to look forward to. pixiedust:

I love your ideas for making this extra special birthday memorable. Between the journal and the brief videos you'll have a very nice record of your journey during this 50th year.
Your trip plan sound wonderful! Three cheers for an Anniversary and birthday trip in 2017!

I made myself a "hope chest" of sorts yesterday. Ok so it's a plastic bin and not a nice fancy wooden box... Anyway, inside this bin I put various items that were meant for our trip last year, that I hope to use on the trip next year. I can add to it as things come to mind, but that I wouldn't be actually packing yet. It currently holds the t-shirts and iron-on transfers I was about to make, our MagicBands (although I expect we'll get new ones, these will be about a year and a half old by that time and I hear their battery life is about 2 years), my Minnie ears, my PassPorter guide book with all manner of notes, and all the stuff I bought to decorate our window (plus a few other misc. items). I will keep it in a corner of my bedroom, accessible but tucked away for now. And I will wait, and hope...... :wizard:

@LegoMom3, Happy Belated Birthday! May the coming year bring you wonderful surprises.

@kimmar067, congratulations on selling your house! I hope you find a new house that will become a home. If you're planning a Disney trip for later in the year, after the move, plan to have the 'flu the bridge week between September and October (you know - the week that spans the last of September and the first of October). ;-)

Our internet is up, so I'm a happy camper! I've been having to use the mobile hotspot to connect, and I hate that. I use it for work, but don't want to use it at home where we're paying for cable internet.

....actually, we got involved in a bit of a bidding war, but when the dust settled....

.....the seller accepted our offer!!! Woohoo!! :dancer:

Made a slight date change to my ticker. We are now looking at the week after Thanksgiving, or about 5 weeks sooner than originally "planned." It's a slightly better week for me to take off from work, still very low crowds, the room rates are only about $10 more per night, AND I think it will be totally worth that to be able to see the World in all its Christmas splendor!!

.

Big news in the Lego Clan household: this weekend, our eldest begins the process of moving out. So very bittersweet... Of course I'll miss him, but he's not going far (about 2 hours north of here). It's time, and he's ready. He's very excited about the opportunity, and I'm happy for him. :lovestruc
