"Babe, I Messed My Pants..." An Oct 2013 TR - FINAL UPDATE! Added 5/24

After a quick nap and unloading some stuff from the backpack, we headed back out to the bus stop for some quality time at the Magic Kingdom!

But obviously, the first order of business was to…..

Get some Dole Whip!

Next up was Pirates, which was a walk on – followed by The Haunted Mansion!

This was also a walk on, and since there was no one in line, we took out time walking through the queue. But do I have pictures? No. No I don’t.

After HM, we made our way over to New Fantasyland for the FIRST. TIME. EVER!

While we were in the area, we stopped into Gaston’s Tavern for a snack.

Lumar ordered a pork shank, I got a chocolate croissant, and we shared a LeFou’s Brew since we didn’t know if we’d like it or not.

LeFou’s Brew, by the way, is seriously…fantastical. I love it and want to drink it all the time for the rest of my life.

And you know Lumar had to get the souvenir cup.

Onward!

We did go on The Little Mermaid ride but none of my pictures came out! It was super cute though!

Finally, we reached Storybook Circus:

After exploring New Fantasyland, we continued into Tomorrowland and took a spin on Buzz. Lumar completely kicked my butt for like, the first time ever, then we headed back to AKL for some sleep!

Your food at B&C looked great! But your childhood sundae story - so sad! :sad1: I can totally see how B&C would cause flash-backs!

Looks like a great MK evening! :woohoo:

For a ten year old kid, it was mortifying! And when the lights at B & C started flashing, and the lady made an announcement to the whole place that someone had ordered the Kitchen Sink.... it all came flooding back! :scared:

We had a great night at MK! I love New Fantasyland and can't wait to see it again when it's totally done!

I'm sorry, but I am :rotfl: over your story of when you were ten and when the lights went dim, etc. and you were worried it was for you. I've seen them do that a couple of times now with the Kitchen Sink. I can't imagine a group of 10 people eating that. So how far did you get with the No Way Jose?

You liked the Brew? I thought it was gross. Your pictures around the MK are simply wonderful. I'm glad you enjoyed Little Mermaid.

:rotfl2: it IS FUNNY in retrospect but at the time, I was beyond mortified. Beaches and Cream gave me PTSD flashbacks!

We made it about halfway through the Jose. If we had gone JUST for that we could have finished it but having eaten our entire meals first didn't leave enough room!

I didn't think I was going to like the brew as much as I did! I hate marshmallow so I thought it would be gross too but we stirred it all up so that the foam mixed with the frozen juice and I loved it! Even Lumar is surprised by how much I like it!

The new camera I got last year is awesome! It takes really nice pictures for a P & S! Plus it fits in my pocket! No more big heavy camera for me!

What kind of camera? I would really like to get a new one before we leave next week if not too expensive.

Canon Powershot SX260. My mom bought it for me last year on Black Friday. I think regular retail is around $230 but if you check out Black Friday deal you might get a better price!

Welcome back! Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving!

This will be a quick update because we are starving and I forgot to take something out for dinner...which means we have to actually GO somewhere and it's RAINING and it's FRIDAY....and going anywhere is probably a terrible idea but seriously....I need to eat! Wish we had an EoS around here!!!

And once again, Photobucket is insisting on NOT resizing my pics immediately, so I'm sorry that they're huge. At least they're all in the correct direction this time. :sad2:

Anyway....

Resort Day #1

Initially this was NOT supposed to be a resort day. My original plan for this day was to go to AK and have breakfast at Tusker House, then head back to the resort and have dinner at Sanaa.

But I decided that I liked the lunch menu better (and now I have no idea why…I think that what I thought I would get to eat was only on the lunch menu), so I went crazy trying to get an earlier ADR for Tusker House and it just wasn’t working out. Plus, according to the crowd forecast, AK was supposed to be a Red Day. So I said screw it, and we stayed home today!
Plus, we were checking out of AKL the next day so I was glad to have some unrushed resort time!

So we got up at 7am and headed off to one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast: Boma!

Lumar decided he really liked the salt and pepper shakers and told me to take a picture of them….

We both had some delicious juice:

And I know we both had coffee.

(Anyone else use an embarrassing amount of sugar packets?? Like, I end up rolling up all the empty packets into a ball and hiding it in a napkin because I don’t want them to see that I used 10 packets in my coffee. Seriously.)

Lumar’s plate:

My plate:

That’s bread pudding with bananas foster sauce, blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon and sausage.

I know what you’re thinking.

You’re thinking “but where’s the AMAZING French toast??”

They were out! None! Gone! Poof!

I was sad, but everything else was so good that I honestly didn’t really miss it that much!

After breakfast, we headed back upstairs to collect our laundry, then ventured down to the pool area, picked out some seats, and I went and put some laundry in to wash.

The laundry room is located next to this:

You know I HAD to take a picture of that sign, right?

Some pics from around the pool area:

After the laundry was done, we brought it back up to the room, I packed up a bit, then we headed back to the pool for a swim.

'

I love this pic because it looks like the resort is all wild and jungley:

Animal shirt. Splash Mountain shorts. Because I can.

The pool music, by the way…..

The Lion King soundtrack. I mean seriously, could I love this resort ANY MORE?!

As we were heading back up to the room, I got a text from my friend Heather that I needed to stop at the front desk.

And lo and behold:

Our first engagement gift! LOVE IT! Thanks Heather!

Up next: Lunchety-Lunch Time!

Hi Ali! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Boma looks great! And what a fun day to just enjoy the resort - I mean, it's AKL! You have to!!!! :woohoo:

Sounds like a wonderful trip so far :goodvibes
Love the pictures. I'm still debating over upgrading my old p&s, but I'm rather fond of it.

Nope -- but I do use a whole bowlful of creamers, then stuff them into each other and compress the stack :lmao:

You too, Roni! Ours was fairly uneventful. Except that I learned that my 20 year old cousin (who shares an apartment with three of her college friends), was involved in an attempt to adopt a cat from some sketchy website...which turned out to be a hoax/scam... But she only discovered this AFTER they had given out their contact info, including their address... :sad2: Thankfully nothing happened but :scared:

AKL is so beautiful. I'm not a "lay by the pool" type of vacationer but the fact that they have lounge chairs that are shaded by all of that awesome foliage could really tempt me into sitting around for a few hours!

My camera advice: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If the one you have still works and you're comfortable with it, keep it. My really old P & S was awesome. Then the cat knocked it off the fridge and broke it. I could have replaced it with the exact same model but I ended up replacing it with the newer version instead and it sucked. I hated it. So I sold it at a tag sale for $35 (10% of the purchase price, I might add...) and my mom got me the SX260 which I love. It's easy to use but it has great features and takes really nice pics! Can't beat that! :thumbsup2

At least you feel my pain and embarrassment about drinking coffee in public! I use a lot of creamer too so I sigh in relief when they bring me the little pitcher (what the heck is that thing called, anyway??) instead of the individual little packets! :rotfl2:

Photobucket does the same thing with my pictures :confused3 I'm switching to just Flickr for my next TR.

Mmmm that bread pudding looks very good right now.

I love the Lion King touches! So adorable!

That Mickey and Minnie on an engagement ring...so precious oh my gosh. I love it.

Ugh, Photobucket is so annoying! How can the people that run the site NOT know this? :confused3

That whole breakfast was delicious! I love Boma!

Seriously...AKL..... I want to live there. For forever. :cloud9:

Isn't that Mickey & Minnie ornament cute?! Maybe if we ever get around to putting up our Christmas Tree this year, I can display it properly!

The burgers at Beaches and Cream are definitely the best. I always order them, because I will regret it if I don't.

Hahahaha, OMG that sundae story is hilarious!

The No Way Jose is my favorite sundae of life. It's incredible. I want one right now. Dangit!

I'm definitely going to get a LeFou's Brew in January. I'm excited. I still haven't tried it. No idea why. :confused3

Resort days are great. I made sure to insert one on our trip in July, because otherwise we would have had some meltdowns on our hands.

How sweet of your friend to do that for you! Such a nice gift.

Thankfully, yours is the first TR I came to since our return, and I wasn't too far behind.

I love resort days! They sometimes are better than a park day. I'm so glad you love AKL. I love the Simba sign for the clubhouse. Isn't the pool there beautiful? And I love that Lion King music.

Boma breakfast...yum! We ended up cancelling ours (Mark got a little sick), but we will be back.

I hate that version of food regret! There's the "Ugh I shouldn't have eaten that" food regret and then there's the "Ugh why didn't I eat THAT instead!?" food regret." I think the latter is worse!

Hahahaha, OMG that sundae story is hilarious!

Dude, when I was a kid it was horrifying. And my mom will STILL bring it up TO THIS DAY and laugh hysterically. :sad2: No wonder I'm so damaged :rotfl2:

The No Way Jose is my favorite sundae of life. It's incredible. I want one right now. Dangit!

I really wanted to try the Milky Way one but it didn't sound as good! Like, I could just go and buy a Milky Way since that was the only thing in it that sounded worth it!

I really liked it! And I hate marshmallow so I thought I was gonna hate it, but I think I drank more of it than Lumar did

She is amazing and so thoughtful! Even drowning in school work she thinks of us!

Thankfully, yours is the first TR I came to since our return, and I wasn't too far behind.

I'm not too far ahead! I've been slacking! You know those times when you have SO MANY things to do that you just opt to not do any of them? Yeah, that's me! Welcome back!

I love resort days! They sometimes are better than a park day. I'm so glad you love AKL. I love the Simba sign for the clubhouse. Isn't the pool there beautiful? And I love that Lion King music.

I do too! I remember coming back from Disney one year and being upset that we never used the pool or really explored the resort (our first stay at CSR, actually!) and from then on I knew our trips had to include a resort day! Plus, it's nice to not have to come home and do 240 loads of laundry! The pool area is gorgeous at AKL!

Boma breakfast...yum! We ended up cancelling ours (Mark got a little sick), but we will be back.

Oh no! I read in your updates that he wasn't feeling well! That stinks you had to miss Boma! Hopefully he's feeling better?!
