We are going in may and staying at the ASMR I seen where they have babysitting services available. We have a 7yr old and were thinking about using them one night for a night out for my husband and I. Has anyone ever used them? How reliable are they and how are they with the kids. Kind of nervous about it so any help would be great. Thanks

Don't have a response but have the same request (except the kids are 18 months and 3). Can anyone comment on Fairy Godmothers ? Any specific sitters to recommend ?

We used Fairy Godmothers a half-dozen times for DS, now 3. We've been very happy with their sitters.

We haven't used a sitter yet because with 4 kidos we felt that it was so expensive! It would be $40 an hour for the club's at the resorts! Then we found out about Kids Night Out, where they come to your room. We decided that our next trip we are going to budget one night for them to come so that hubby and I can have a night out. We figured if we skip a Character Meal it would cover the cost of the babysitter.

Now I have something else to look forward to when we go back.. My list is getting longer and longer!

An alternative to in room babysitting is the Kids Clubs which operate at several WDW resorts (GF, Poly, Ak, and a few others). You don't have to stay at the hotel to use the club. Cost is $10/hr/child and they take ages 4-12. Here's the link Kids Club and scroll down the page. Having an only child, I like this kind of program where DS gets some time just playing w/ other kids....

We used Kids Night Out last year and were very happy with their service. We had 3 kids, 1 which was an infant. The lady reminded me of my mom, she was so sweet and she brought games and activites for the kids. We ordered them room service for dinner and she made sure they ate and had them in bed by the time we got back.

how does this in-room sitting work if you don't have a suite? DS is almost two and will be in a port-a-crib in our room.....

We used Fairy Godmothers once when DH had a conference at WDW and there was a dinner that included spouses. We had 1 room at CSR. The sitter brought a suitcase full of age appropriate toys for DSs (3 and 5) to play with her. When we returned, she was sitting on the end of one of the beds reading a book by flashlight! It made me really nervous to leave DSs with an in room sitter but it turned out fine.

If DSs had both been old enough for the Neverland Club or one of the other resort kids' clubs, I would have put them there. On a later trip, DH and I ate at California Grill while we sent DSs to the Mouseketeer Club at the CR. DSs had a blast- there were board games, video games, arts and crafts, TV with VCR and stacks of Disney movies, and some fun, energetic CMs. For a 7 year old, I would highly recommend one of the kids' clubs rather than an in-room sitter becasue he will have so much more to do and some other kids to hang out with him.

I also have read numerous good threads regarding Fairy Godmothers, but I have no first hand experience.

A hearty applause from me for Fairy Godmothers! We have used them 3 times (different sitters each time) but they have all exceeded our expectations (and I am a very persickity parent!). The first time we used them, I was nervous. Our DS was 11 and our DGD was 1. I knew that our DS would tell us everything and he was also instructed to call us for anything at anytime. They were awesome and he did not need to call us once.

We used them again (Lynn) for New Years Eve this year. She arrived on time and we shared all pertinent information smoothly. Unfortunately, our 2.5 yr old DGD started throwing up during the first hour. She called us immediately and DD went back to the room ASAP. She had apparently eaten too much and it was not the flu but DD stayed to get her back to sleep. In the hopes that DGD would settle down and DD could return to Epcot with us, Lynn stayed on. In fact, she was more than willing to stay without any help but none of us wanted to leave an ill child.

DD stayed with Lynn for over 2 hours and was very impressed with how she handeld everything. Her phone calls were appropriate and she was prepared for anything. In fact, DD made a great time with her.

I'll never hesitate to use them again and I heartily recommend them.
