We have flown with continental and found them fantastic! we had seat back tv's and the service was great.
Can't comment on ba as never been with them.
Continental goes to new york and you could ask your travel agent? if you wanted for a stop over there before flying down.

We've flown with Continental 5 times and no problems with service etc. The stopover in Newark is great and as previously mentioned you can request to stay overnight in Newark and get a plane down to Orlando the following day, we're doing this in Oct. We like going via Newark as you clear immigration there and then when you land in Orlando its really quick getting out of the airport rather than having to clear immigration there.
I have no hesitation in recommending Continental.
If the Continental flight is operated by Virgin then it is a Continental Codeshare flight. We have booked one of these for our trip in October.
Basically it is virtually the same as travelling usually with Virgin. You will be on a Virgin Atlantic plane with Virgin service, using Virgin check-in etc.
I would choose Virgin Atlantic over BA any day especially if they are virtually the same price. You will be able to use twilight check-in the night before at Gatwick and also Downtown Disney check-in in Florida.
