Hi, :wave2:

Am going with DH to DisneyWorld for the first time in September, am very excited!!!

We were going to book a fly/drive with TCD or Airtours but got lucky and checked with BA first. Just in case anyone hasn't booked yet, we got two flights to Orlando International for £720 with taxes and a car rental for 2 weeks with all insurance (including the extras) with Avis for £220 (again through BA). This wasn't much more than others were offering and we fly out on a Boeing 777 which is hopefully roomy. TCD have great planes but we were worried about getting transferred to an Air Atlanta Europe flight.

Anyone else going out mid September?

Take care,

Eloise

Hi Eloise and welcome to DISboards. I'm also a newbie.

Sounds like you got a great deal with BA and Avis. I am also going in September with DH (our second trip). We are flying out on the 19th for a week, staying at the Holiday Inn Internation Drive.

When are you going?

BA 777 is a great plane - seat back tv, more generous seat pitch than many (32" I think), plus complimentary food and drink. That's a great price you got too - BA have increased their prices to Florida a lot this year, but maybe they just weren't selling enough of them (last year, we paid £1050 for 3 of us to Tampa - this year the same flights on the same day came to £1450 so we booked with Delta instead - £850 for 3, via Atlanta). Have a wonderful time!!

Hi again :)

The plane sounds great! I'm what they seem to call on this website 'pooh-sized' - :rotfl: - so i'll be happy for the extra room and comfort. We flew to Rome in April on a 757 and that was roomy enough so this should be better!

We're going 17 September for 2 weeks, our first time. We thought we'd splurge and are getting a villa for the two of us, got a great deal on that too :) We're looking forward to dips in the pool after a hard day in the parks!

Do you guys know if the parks will be heaving in September?

I hate to sound repetitive but i'm so excited about this trip, I can't stop smiling, i'm practically bouncing off the walls! :cloud9:

Have a great day,

Eloise

Don't worry about being excited. We've got 9 weeks to go and my DH keeps telling me I am going to be unbearable in the next few weeks as I'm already having trouble sleeping cos I'm so excited :rotfl:

Regarding how busy the parks will be, we went in September last year (7th - 21st) and the parks were pretty much dead. US and Iof A, we hardly saw anybody (virtually all the rides were walk-ons). The only park that was at all busy was MK (and, from what I've heard since, it really wasn't that busy at all - 15 to 30 min waits for rides).

You will have a fantastic time - and want to go back again and again :Pinkbounc

That's funny, my DH says the same thing! But he's just as excited! I just think about it more because i'm the planner, i've got a million lists on the go about rides, parks, times, parking, shopping, etc, i'm having so much fun planning it :)

That's good to hear about the parks! Where did you stay last time? Have you been to the Holiday Inn before? We had thought of going to I-Drive but we really wanted a pool to ourselves (i'm a bit shy in a swimsuit!) and as its our first time we thought we'd treat ourselves. We're staying in Kissimmee, about 6 miles east of WDW. There seems to be a lot of shopping there, I-Drive too. Do you go to WDW every day or do you also take a few days off to shop or go to the beach etc?

book nut, are you flying from gatwick on the 17th sept? my sis is going on the same day. also did you book direct with b.a?

Hi again. We stayed at the Quality Inn on I-Drive last year (were supposed to be staying at Howard Johnson but it was awful so we got moved). It was OK. I, too, am a bit self conscious in a swimsuit but, apart from 1 day at Wet n Wild, we didn't swim at all the whole time we were there.

We didn't do parks every day (on the advice of several people) as were worried about getting park burn-out. If you like, I can let you see my schedule from last year. I have also started to write a trip report for our last visit just to remind myself of all the little things and get myself more in the mood for this trip). We went shopping a couple of days and we also did Discovery Cove which was fantastic. We had a couple of days where we just mooched about or did a half day at a park and then went to one of the I-Drive attractions in the afternoon/evening.

The reason we choose to stay on I-Drive is because neither of us particularly wants to drive. I_Drive is really handy cos you can get to most places pretty easily.

The only concern I have about this year's trip is that we're only going for a week and I just know it won't be long enough. In fact, I'm already planning next year's trip as I know we are going to want to go back again (probably with the kids next time).

I'm by no means an expert on WDW and the like but, if you want any advice/recommendations let me know :)

Netty, is this your sisters first time?

Wilma-bride: I'm trying to not plan too much Disney stuff all at once. We need to relax too, the last few months have been stressful at work, I need a break! And I like to shop :)

booknut, no she has been at least 15 times, and now that she has bought a condo over there, she goes at least twice a year! :flower:
now the boys have left home she and her husband dont bother with the parks, but explore more of florida!
have a great trip in september, you'll want to book again when you come back as you'll be well and truly hooked!!!! :wizard: :cheer2:

Hi, we were there 29 aug - 12 sep last year, our first time, and the parks were pretty quiet. As said earlier most rides were just walk-ons - the longest queue we had was in MK for ariels grotto which we thought was a ride of some kind but it was for a photo and autograph! Queue was about 40 mins.
We stayed at Clarion Universal just behind wet and wild and it was great, even when hurricane Frances called!

We're going again sep 13 - 27 this year, this time staying onsite at CBR. Disney's free dining plan promotion is on during our stay so I'm not sure if this will affect crowd levels, I believe some US visitors have changed their bookings to take advantage of this offer.

And beware, once you visit, you have to return!!
