We just arrived home Christmas Day after a great week. We are a family of 4, DS5 and DD3.
We ate at Beaches and Cream the first day and thought it was alright. My husband had the double burger and I had the Chicken Caesar Salad. My salad was on the small side, but it was fine. My kids ordered the milkshake and a rootbeer floats for our drinks. They were yummy. Oh, I forgot to mention we used 2 Connection vouchers for this meal. For dessert we had a strawberry shortcake and a Milky way sundae. All I can say is unbelievable, this was way too much ice cream, but very good. 2 adults and 2 kids could not finish the two desserts. Total $43, but used $22 worth of Connection vouchers.
Would we go back? Only using vouchers.
Ohana's was our next meal. My husband really liked this meal. I thought it was alright, partially because I am not a big meat eater. They bring 3 foot long skewers of steak, pork and shrimp to your table. The waitress serves as much as you care to eat. My DD3 wouldn't touch it at all, the waitress brought her a $10 bowl of Mac and Cheese.
I found the dips for the meats to be average and the steak a little tough. $72 before tip.
Would we go back? Probably not.
Well, the long awaited Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast was next. We arrived at 8:50 for our 9:05 ressie. There was only one family waiting in the waiting room. After 20 minutes of waiting, the room was full and we still weren't called. I asked my husband to go and check out the situation. The lady seating people said they were still working on 9:00 ressies. Well we waited another 20 minutes and the kids were getting a little antsy. Finally, I thought I heard our name called. My husband went to retrieve our card, but the lady said we heard incorrectly. The families had already went upstairs to be seated. Alright, another 20 minutes passes by and still our name was not announced. This was ridiculous. I sent my husband up again to check with the check-in lady. She said, "Oh, I called your family 20 minutes ago, and someone else GRABBED YOUR CARD AND WENT UPSTAIRS!" OK, I am really steaming now, they found the family who errantly took our card and switched the cards back. We could see the host talking to the family as they were thoughly enjoying their meals at, of course, the best table in the house....OUR TABLE! I was ready to break open a can of Whoop A@@ right then and there.
Forget all about that, we are at Disney and my DD3 will enjoy this experience. Oh, did I mention we were seated in the corner with the highest traffic area in restaurant? We will enjoy this, we will enjoy this, we will enjoy this! The meal was alright, the coffee was luke-warm, the princess interaction was poor. The only saving grace was the Fairy Godmother. She was great. DD3 and the Fairy Godmother had a great conversation. I will remember that experience.
Would we go back? Never
Jiko was next on our list. We had the Taste of Africa (3 breads and dips) I thought it was very good. I had the Beef Tenderloin and mac and cheese (as someone wrote earlier "this does work") for the main course. This was very good as well. Hubby had the lamb. The meat fell apart. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes for the kids and shared my steak with them. It worked out perfectly because they are so tired at the end of the day, they usually don't eat much. ($80 before tip)
Would we go back? Probably
AHHH, Boma was next, and to think I almost cancelled our PS's this night. This was by far the best meal we had at Disney. The soups were to die for. Seafood Gumbo, Bacon and Potato, Corn and Plantain Chowder (2 others as well) we soooo good. I tried every curry dish I could find and loved them all. Loved everything and of course those Zebra Domes... too die for! DD3 fell asleep after nibbling on her food, our server offered to take her off the bill. I thought that was a nice touch. ($60 before tip)
Would we go back? Definitely
Christmas Eve we dined at Le Cellier. My kids enjoyed the breads that were brought to the table with the appetizers. My husband started with the Caesar Salad, small and uneventful. I had the Cheddar Cheese Soup, only because it had such high reviews on this board. I thought it was alright, but many restaurants in my home town in Canada make a better Cheese soup that this. My husband had the Salmon Steaks with a side Lobster Tail. He really enjoyed it. The lobster tail is not on the menu and when the people at the table beside us saw we were able to order it, they gave the waitress a hard time for not offering it to them. I ordered the Tenderloin with Mushroom risotto. My risotto was kind of mushy and the meal was again just average. The Beef Tenderloin at Jiko's was far better. Chocolate Moose (with antlers) for the kids for dessert. It was fun and tasted good. $80ish before tip
Would we go back? No
Oh, one last thing. We ate at 1900 Park Fare for breakfast on Christmas Morning. It was good but a pretty basic breakfast buffet, I think Cape May at the Beach Club was better.
Would we go back? No, better character interaction and food at Cape May.
