I just called them about buying tickets and having them overnighted to deliver to my tomorrow (Saturday). I know Sat delivery is available with several shipping companies but the girl said that Ayres does not deliver on the weekend. I told her that I was not asking Ayres to deliver them to me, they just have to bring them to the shipping company today and the shipping company will actually deliver them to me. She said she could deliver them by Tuesday, the first day we plan to go to DL if I can get the 5 day tickets, but it would be by 4pm. I asked if I could pay extra for early morning delivery to our hotel and she said no. What would it hurt them if I paid extra for them to use the early morning delivery service that almost all shipping companies have???

I am really frustrated!!!

They are in San Diego and too far for us to take a detour on our way from Phoenix, AZ area.

What is up with Ayres?? Anyone else had problems with them? And, where can I get a discount on a 5 day ticket comparable to theirs (163 per person)???

Have you tried AAA of AZ? I can't remember their discount off hand, but I think it was around $179 for 5 day tickets and given that you can pick them up on Today or Saturday, might not be worth the hassle of trying to figure out how to get them from Ayres. If you are not a member, maybe a friend is that can get you the discount.

I bought 4-day hoppers from Ares last year. Everything was fine, but I bought them at least one month beforehand. I do not know what the deal is with the Saturday delivery. It seems like it should be possible for them to do that, but I would guess they have a reason why.

First, understand that ARES probably isn't paying anywhere close to what they charge people for regular next day ($15) or 2nd day ($10) service. They more than likely have a contract rate with FedEx which allows them to profit from shipping much like people on eBay that charge more for shipping than it actually costs. The difference is part of their profit margin & Saturday or early Morning Delivery may not be a contracted service for them, so they wouldn't profit from your order & may not offer it for that reason. So, that's how it would hurt them. I agree, from a Customer Service standpoint, that's dumb, but if that's their policy, there's not a whole lot to be done.

As for your actual savings from ARES...if you had paid the $40 or $50 for Saturday or early Morning Delivery & factor in their "handling or convenience" charge, your savings probably would've been no more than $20-30 for all 5 of your tickets, which I realize is good for a couple of pizzas or a trip to McDonalds, but for the time & frustration?

It sounds like the AAA of AZ rate for a 5 day PH at $179 is no better than buying from Disney online & picking it up at Will Call for 2006 tickets. The Will Call booth is separate from the regular ticket booths at DL & a breeze to get through. Your tickets would be waiting for your at the door without having to worry about remembering to bring them along or getting them to your hotel.
