Please help! I've been to the parks before and found AK to be just wonderful. The last time I was at MGM, I didn't enjoy it too much. However, with all the research I've done for this trip, it looks like I'll enjoy MGM a lot, and I see a lot of people DON'T appreciate AK as much.

If you had only one day, would you go to AK and skip MGM? Go to MGM and skip AK? Try to do both by hitting AK in the morning, and MGM in the afternoon? If we do that, won't we find the lines to be too long for many of the MGM major attractions? We'd want to see Fantasmic (so far, still have dinner package PS), so seeing those attractions during Fantasmic wouldn't work.

I want my family to see the lion king and the safari ride and maybe dinosaur at AK, but we'd probably get caught up in the atmosphere.

At MGM, I'd like my family to see fantasmic, the simulator rides, Beauty and the Beast, Muppets. . .

I know we can't do everything.

Also, we're going in October--maybe the lines would be manageable.

Our schedule is:
Epcot
MGM or AK or both?
Epcot
MK all day- Cirque de Soleil at 9
Universal Studios
disneyquest day/MK MNSSHP eve
I of A

Thanks!

Without hesitation I'd skip MGM in favor of AK. I love AK, in fact, it's my second favorite coming in right behind (almost on top of) MK. There aren't a whole lot of rides at the AK, but the park is just beautiful. You can ride the safari over and over again and never see the same thing twice. I love all of the trails and having lunch at Flametree with the meal certificates. I also love the Jammin' Jungle Parade.

Erin :D

Go to AK then do Fantasmic? AK closes early and you could take the night show and MGM. I would take AK over MGM but my family is really into animals sooo....

I would skip MGM too.

However, we have been known to go to AK for EMH, tour until 3/4pm (just before the park closing), head over to MGM for an early dinner at Prime Time, then wander around that park for an hour or so.

I think you'd get 'more' out of AK in a day then you would at MGM personally.

I'm assuming you have hopping ability. I would do the AK then go to MGM for dinner and Fantasmic.

We have skipped MGM last two trips. I just feel like I don't want to deal with the construction/loss of activities there. I am so over Muppets, Indiana Jones, Star Tours and B&B is grating on my nerves (why didn't they ditch it and keep Hunchback?). I think the parade is blah. I love Fantasmic, R&R, Mermaid and we enjoy ToT and the Great Movie Ride is okay. BUT, I just don't want to waste time there for the sake of going. Needs some TLC and I just don't know that a car stunt show will get me running back. :(

AK is a great park (and I didn't go the first time willingly) with good shows, parade, rides and it is beautiful. I vote AK !
