Today's markets make these businesses difficult to earn bankable money in. I have done Avon, Tupperware ( I was a van driving 70K earning manager for five years), but it is different now than it was 10 years ago. With Avon I never made much , maybe $30 here or there. Tupperware was big and sold well and I was great at recruiting new reps. I loved it when I did it, I earned well, but those who remained in it found corporate changes they didn't like and lowered income when online shopping really took off. I would think that the internet has brought these businesses down a bit, but if you are willing to really push the product you would certainly earn something. I wouldn't count on earning the kind of money I once did if I reentered the Tupperware game, but for me--I had a problem pregnancy and to keep the baby I lost everything--I was put on bedrest and had to start from ground zero again after my DD was born. It was too much for me to know what I always used to get and have to start over from square one again. I was not in a good place with the whole standard commission when I was used to much much more.
You rarely find anyone at home now a days to do the "cold call selling" to , most people do not want to have people over when they have free time and most guests would rather not be there. Shipping and handling prices are crazy and for those prices customers would rather just shop the internet. If you have a lot of friends that are buying the products then maybe you can manage, but you have to hope for sales every two weeks from each customer to turn a profit from Avon.
