Now i know the best way to avoid the parking fee at the parks is to take a shuttle but unfortunatley the one at our hotel heads for the park at 9:30am and leaves at 6:30PM!!! wich kinda sucks considering the park stays open untill 10pm when we will visit, so only other option is Taxi, and i was wondering if maybe its possible to walk through the parking booths?like be dropped off before you get into the parking garage where you pay. is it possible to walk? instead of drive through and pay just to be droped off inside? if anyone could help me out id really appreciate it :)

It's not like Disney. There are only parking garages across the street. The taxi will not drive you into them.

I believe there is a taxi pickup/dropoff spot that does not involve the parking garages. You're overthinking this. :goodvibes

The taxi/guest dropoff is at the same place as the shuttle drop off. You don't have to pay any parking fees to be dropped off at Universal. You will just go up the escalator to the walkway and walk in with all the rest of the people who have just parked in the garages.

:flower3: Thank you everyone! so much :) your responses are a great help, im pleased to find this out. Im glad universal isnt as intent to squeeze every last penny from you like disney when it comes to parking lol :)

I don't know about that. They both try pretty hard IMO.

haha indeed. But i cant believe disney actually charges to be dropped off i mean it is ridiculous but i guess they can get away with it, because you still need to get in either way.

Is this true? I honestly didn't know this if so.

Oh it is true. We got charged the parking fee when we took a cab from RPR to Animal Kingdom. I went and complained at Guest Services about it and they didn't seem to think I should have any problem with it.

Huh. Bummer!

That's messed up Disney charges for parking to drop someone off. Nice to hear Universal doesn't charge, even Six Flags who I feel is the industry leader in price gouging (my local Six Flags is $17 regular parking, $25 preferred) doesn't charge to enter the drop off lot.

I haven't gone yet....but I think it's bad they charge you to park at the resort when you stay on site! At least Disney doens't charge you to park at your resort.

Weird. I've dropped people off at Disney without paying. They sent me through the handicap lanes. I've picked them up, too, but it didn't matter at that point since the booths were empty by then.

I dont know if they still do it, but if you went in to drop someone off, you were charged for parking. If you left in less then a certain length of time, I want to say less then 30 minutes, you could stop at the gas station at the exit, or somewhere near there, and get a refund. I dont remember off hand where it was, other then it was done. It might have been the transportation office next door to the gas station or in the lobby of the car rental agency.

I agree with that as well. That is why this year we are taking the Amtrak down and getting a cab. The train is cheaper than driving for us.

im going to disney as well in a taxi, will telling the person in a ticketbooth that we are being droped off work in a taxi? it specifically says on disneys site •Automobile, taxi, limo or motorcycle: $14.00 USD

Just curious. How are you saving a parking fee, if you're paying a cab to get there? Is the parking fee really that high? We're using Mears, but I wondered.
