Avoid 12/30, NYE or NYD??

We will be at HRH for the whole week from 12/30 - 1/6 without a car (we are planning on a really relaxing week!!) - as we have so long to enjoy the two parks, would you suggest we avoided them for the most part of our first 3 days??

We will have to visit them at least one of those days to make sure we see all the Christmas stuff before it disappears - so which day is best for that??

Any suggestions on what else to do with two smallish boys (ages 3 and 6) around UO if you don't go into the parks?? For example, will the cinema be relatively quiet over the holidays??

With your room keys, either park will be manageable but crowds will be unavoidable at entry turnstiles, restaurants, etc.

I thought the parks on NYE were a blast though. Loved the music, the fireworks (which I think are cancelled this year due to HP construction actually), and atmosphere. Definitely a nice party vibe in the parks and honestly not too crowded.

NYD might actually be worse.
