I know it can depend on many variables, but does anyone have an idea of about how long I should budget time wise for an 'Ohana dinner? It is a 5:50 reservation time on a Saturday.

Thank you!

I agree with auroraborealis. However, if they are running late to seat you, it could be a bit longer.

I have a FP in AK that that night which opens at 7:10 that I really would like to make. Do you think if we arrived a bit early (5:30ish) that would help?

We have had great luck checking in early. At worst, you get ahead of everyone else at your time slot. I think it is doable, but will be tight.

I would try to move the times. Which, I know, is tough. If that fails, I would check in early, not rely on Disney transportation (Polynesian to AK can take forever), ask for the check early, and walk like the sidewalks are on fire.

If you want to make that FP+, I would really reconsider this reservation. You may or may not be seated early. O'hana is notorious for seating late. I would want to be in a cab no later than 7 pm to drive to AK and get through security in time.

I always book a reservation right at opening so I cannot comment on seating past your reservation time, but it always takes us 2 hours to eat the meal. We love the food and enjoy the entertainment , the children are so precious. For us, Ohana is one of those places where the entire experience is an attraction.

Figure about an hour and a half unless your family takes lots of 2nd and 3rd helpings! Seating will be your biggest time problem followed by server time (you could get seated right away - you might need an additional half hour - all depends on crowds and how fast they cycle) For my scheduling purposes I always figure 2 hours for Ohana.

Maybe tell your server that you want the app, entree and dessert courses to come out quickly behind each other. One time our server was sooo slow at bringing us each course. I visited twice in May.. it took us the same amount of time to eat both times (a little less than an hour and a half) and the second time we got two appetizer plates and multiple servings of meat. The first time our server never offered us seconds of anything. The only time she came to our table was to serve the next course (visited once for the appetizer plate, then brought the chicken, steak, and shrimp and the next time we saw her was when she brought the dessert).

We were seated within 10 minutes of checking in both times and we checked in maybe 15 minutes early.

1 1/2 hours to eat. Not rushing, not being leisurely. We had to wait about 20-30 minutes to sit down as well. Total experience about 2 hours.

I've tried that, and it didn't work for me. If anything it just made the wait even longer because we sat there longer because we checked in too early! It's worked for us at other places like Yak and Yeti and Boma, but Ohana? Not so much.

No, we would be using the bus service from the Polynesian to AK. Maybe I should just grab a cab to AK???

Is the FP for FOP? If it's for FOP don't miss it. Cancel Ohana and eat at Satuli Canteen at Pandora. Greatest ride I've ever been on and literally the hardest FP to get right now. Ohana is my favorite dinner on property but I would drop it in a hot second if it meant getting on FOP!

This! I agree 100%.

Would you enjoy your experience at Ohana if you were stressed about timing? Ohana is an experience, not just a meal as a PP mentioned. And I would not rely on Disney buses. Even with a cab or Uber I can see adding another 20 mins to half hour to your timing, provided they picked you up quickly.

That's what I am thinking. I would like to enjoy my meal and not feel antsy/rushed to get out of there. The FP is for Na'vi River, I actually have 2 FOP fastpasses for later in my stay for FOP. That is why I wanted to keep the Na'vi one. I'm leaning towards just eating a relaxed meal at 'Ohana, don't worry about the FP for NRJ if it can't be changed and heading to AK for my ROL FP. Since my ROL FP is for the second show, maybe I will get in line for NRJ during the first ROL show.

Thanks for all the advice!

I would pick Ohana over NRJ! NRJ<Ohana<FOP

We actually missed a NRJ FP because we wanted to sleep in! Ohana and then ROL sounds amazing!! Enjoy your AK night! We absolutely enjoyed ROL BTW!

Aww, thank you so much! we'll get on Na'vi sometime during the trip. I chose to get 2 FOP fastpasses over a NRJ because I have a "hunch" that we may want to ride FOP more than once. I was excited to get a FP for Na'vi after they recently added a second ROL show. However, we do love 'Ohana and we are lucky to have that reservation. Thinking the less stressful plan will be best.
