Average duration of a Buc-ees stop?

My stops are long enough for restroom, some sort of coffee drink, a banana pudding and some beaver nuggets to go

My visits to Bucc-ees consists of filling the gas tank and going to the bathroom. The rest of the stuff is nice but not that important to me.

PS - but I will say the bathrooms are usually VERY clean and nice, worthy of a stop all by themselves. DW approves.

This was me as well. I stopped in one outside of Macon on 75 on the way down to WDW. I actually stopped to check out the parking situation in case we wanted to stop there while towing the 5th wheel. I was driving down just me in the car. I walked around the parking lot first, checking out the parking. There were no designated RV spots but RVs had sort of taken over one section and pulled in using two car spots. I then went inside and was immediately hit with a overly crowded, noisy, busy something. I made my way through the crowd to the bathroom, did my business and left. It was too crowded and too loud for me. From what I saw and smelled on my way through, I told hubby not worth the stop with the RV, especially considering we would either have to open the RV and put the dog in there or leave her in the truck, neither ideal. Rest stops and Walmart parking lots will continue to be our potty break stops.

We avoid Buccee’s with the motorhome. If it is crowded, it can be a nightmare to get around. We will stop when we drive home later this month and when we return in January with the truck. The bathrooms are very clean. I have been known to buy the mints in the Buccee’s tins for stocking stuffers and they have nice grassy areas for walking our dog.

A lot depends on the location. The one north of Atlanta isn't too bad. South of Atlanta and the one close to Gulf Shores are a nightmare.

With Mudflap or TSD, I can usually find fuel as cheap at a regular truck stop and can be in and out in 10 or 15 minutes. The food is pretty good at Buc-ees, but not worth an extra 30 minutes and traffic issues.

I have tried to go inside the one near Gulf Shores a few years ago, but couldn't find a parking space. But it's still the plan for this trip. I just have to get inside the store and see what it's all about.

That's an indicator of how popular our LA beaches are.

"LA" means Lower Alabama.

The Buc-cees in Foley off I-10 has MANY gas pumps and places for tow folks (like me). Be diligent.

South Alabama short term reservations (like me) might have MANY reservations. I am blessed to be ONE of them. - in retro of course. The Alabama/Gulf State Park website is pretty simple to understand.

We welcome any visitors who get into the GSP campground.

We don't fill up the gas tank while towing. We have an extra tank in the bed of the truck that will get us anywhere we are going. Me and the dog can only travel at most 7 hours, 5 is ideal. We stop just to stretch our legs and let the dog go to the bathroom. We fill up the truck at wherever our overnight is since we always unhook even if we are stopping for just a night. We can get to the bathroom in our RV with the slides in so we either stop at rest stops or Wal-Mart to take a potty break.

Yes, I understand about the Gulf Shores beaches, but I won't be camping there this trip, just trying to get into the Buccees nearby in Robertsdale. I think if I can just go inside the store and experience the whatever it is that is the draw, I can get over my fascination with the place. That, and I want that cinnamon roll, and am also adding a t-shirt to my list.

I know I don't have the kind of restraint that will get me in and out of there in less than an hour, and I really just wondered how other people approached the place. But then again, I can go into a new (to me) super Walmart location, and I'm in for a good hour or more...

Be careful! It is more likely to hook you in than getting over the fascination.

It is a pretty amazing place if it weren't for the 1000 other people checking it out.

We don't fill up the gas tank while towing. We have an extra tank in the bed of the truck that will get us anywhere we are going.

When I had my dually and 5er, I had 98 gallon capacity with the auxiliary tank. The MH has 100. The Fort is almost exactly 1000 miles and GSP is 750. At 7mpg in the MH, I am still stopping somewhere each way. I prefer 8-9 hour days, but I often drive straight through coming home from the Fort and GSP. Depending on traffic, the Fort is usually around 16-17 hours.

I got used to driving long hauls when I raced sports cars. Those were typically get going and only stop for fuel until you get there. We were based out of the St Louis area and raced from Utah to Virginia and Wisconsin to Alabama.

I should have clarified too that I'm not hauling or pulling anything. Just tent camping, so I think the parking should be easier and less stressful if I can find a space.

A stop at Buccees was on the list from the very start of my planning. I am really pitiful, but I have decided that i want that cinnamon roll (will probably last me a week, because I've seen pictures and read that they're huge), and also want that Christmas t-shirt now.

I just hope I don't end up on somebody's video on social media of "people at Buccees".......

Last time I was there was the DISmeet we had this summer and on the way home I stopped for gas and walked in to use the facilities. The lines (several of them) for the cash registers extended ALL the way back to the rear wall where the entrance to the restrooms were.

This was a Friday afternoon in June so I guess I should have expected a bigger crowd.

Last time I was there was the DISmeet we had this summer and on the way home I stopped for gas and walked in to use the facilities. The lines (several of them) for the cash registers extended ALL the way back to the rear wall where the entrance to the restrooms were.

This was a Friday afternoon in June so I guess I should have expected a bigger crowd.

Oh, this will be Thanksgiving weekend, so I can imagine it will be a madhouse....

But! I am firmly in the camp (no pun intended) at this point, of getting there and seeing what it's all about. And of course getting that cinnamon roll and t-shirt. If there's any of that left by that time...
