Avengers Campus Superthread – Opening June 4, 2021!

For those of you that have regular park tickets versus park hopper tickets, do you regret that you didn't get a park hopper ticket? The reason I ask is because I bought 3 day park tickets without the park hopper option. This is the first time I've done that, usually I get park hopper tickets. But I bought the regular park tickets because I felt there was enough for us to see/do in one day at each park without hopping back and forth. But now that there are these rules in place for virtual queues at WS and ROTR, I'm rethinking my decision and wondering if I should upgrade my family's tickets to park hoppers. I'm just afraid that we won't be able to get a boarding pass for WS and ROTR. I just wonder if a park hopper ticket will increase our chances for both.

We have regular one day passes for the first time. So we are used to park hopping but honestly I haven’t regretted it at all. With no fast pass and no single rider we have spent more time in line than we normally would but are still getting plenty done. I don’t think PH would have been worth it for us this trip.

Those are great questions. I have a 3 day 1 park only ticket as well for August. I don't think I'll switch, but knowing you could do both RotR and ws in one day if you're extremely lucky would be fun. We're going after the opening time changes to 8, so that's 1 more hour of rides available to possibly get on before the noon drop.

In the past, when reservations weren’t required, we could just wing it. For example, if we had gone to DCA the first day, and weren’t able to get on WS, we would probably have tried to go back the second day to see if we could get the boarding pass. Or if we had a park hopper and are at DL the second day, we could still try for a WS boarding pass at noon. But with reservations required, I feel more restricted and more pressure 😂. And the same goes for ROTR. I think I’m going to try to upgrade.

Those are great points. With reservations required, I just can’t wing it anymore, lol.

Yeah that makes sense. And hey, if you ride the one early enough every day you have that possibility to ride the other one, whereas without hoppers, you will definitely only get 1 at the most. As first timers tho, we will want to check out everything in each park.

I completely understand! There’s definitely enough to see/do in each park for the day, especially now.

Good vid on how to get the WS BP near the beginning . Rest of video is a bit of a spoiler so caution.

We were fortunate to get BGs on both Friday and Sat. Friday they did allow people with food ready to enter AC, but fixed it for Sat so they did not allow it. If you click I'm here and weren't inside, you weren't allowed in. And you had to pay for the food. Saturday they had standby lines for food at Pym's. It moved quickly. Since we had BG 20 on Sat, I also snagged food for before our ride. We also were able to get BG for Rise on Sat since our BG was so early.

On Friday, part of our group wanted night pics, so they got in line about 7pm. They were in Avengers about 8pm and took the hour to take her Grad pics inside.

There were a LOT of people who were not very nice to CM around AC Friday, so there were even more suits and security in the area on Sat.

For those comparing SW:GE and AC, SW:GE has a capacity of 17K, AC at pandemic levels, they are only allowing about 2200 people.....

And a negative about AC, they need more dining seating!!!

Love the food, love the shows, love the ride, can't wait for the third ride, today we are in DL....

I have a logistics question about getting a boarding group. I have our park hoppers for our trip but I also have all of our legacy passes. So when I try to get a boarding pass I would have to manually select the park hopper tickets (6 of them) instead of just hitting the select all checkbox. Obviously that takes too much time. Any suggestions?

So the standby line at night was only an hour long? Better than 7 hours they reported during the day. I guess it's something to keep in mind if we can't get a BG.

We had a wonderful time in AC yesterday. Got WS 56 which was called a little after noon. I managed to snag a 3:30 Pym’s test kitchen around 1 while we were in line for WS, so we ended up staying in AC for 4 hours in order to explore, eat, and because there is nearly constant entertainment. Disney clearly listened to the feedback about the lack of theme music and characters in SWGE, because there are characters and music everywhere - so much energy!

WS is Midway Mania meets Transformers, and very fun!

We saw at least 4 stunt shows - Dr. Strange, Dora Milaje, Spider-Man and the Black Widow/Black Panther - and they were very well done. The kids loved them! There is no schedule, as we were told by multiple CM’s - things just happen, but they happen very frequently! (Except perhaps the Dr. Strange show around 2:15, for whom we waited about 20 min but other people had been waiting for 2 hrs!)

We saw a ton of characters in AC, either wandering around, waving from the HQ, or posing for pictures: Spider-Man, Thor, Loki, Black Panther, Dora Milaje, Iron Man, Captain America, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Gamora and Star Lord (Quill).

Food: We had the chicken sandwich, giant pretzel and a salad at Pym’s, and they were all good, but hands down, the Shawarmas will be our go-to next time we visit. Delicious! And Shawarma Too by the Hyperion has shorter waits and more seating.

Bottom line: It pays to score that WS BG, and be give yourself some time (at least 2-3 hrs) to really enjoy AC when you get there.

A note about park hoppers: We missed our opportunity to get a noon ROTR BG by 4 min, because they called our WS BG at 12:04, and you can’t hold BG’s for both rides at the same time. The people in front of us had already used their WS, scored ROTR, and were thrilled to ride both in one day. We’ve ridden ROTR several times, so it wasn’t a big deal, and we also spent waaaaaay more time standing in lines than we’ve done since the 1990’s before FP was introduced. We park-hopped in the evening and were absolutely exhausted after 12 hrs in the park, more so than we’ve ever even, since we’re used to use FP/MP to minimize standing time. You know your own touring style, but if you can get into AC, you can actually fill a day at DCA now - no need to hop.

On the day you go into the parks (have a valid ticket and reservation), the system will automatically select your park tickets and not your legacy passes. We have done this for two days now and haven’t had any issues.

They closed that line at least 2 hours before park closed. I asked about the wait around 7pm and the CM at the back of the line said they closed the line and are keeping anyone else from getting in line because they wouldn’t get into AC if they got in line at that time or later. I tried to get in after 8pm as I saw people flooding out but the CMs were not letting anyone else in without a BG.

They closed the standby line last night just before 6:15pm. I happened to be in the area.

Ok, so check by 6:30? I'm only going off of Malcon's post that said around 7pm.

Wow! Sounds like you lived it up! Lol. Is there a specific place where the stunt shows take place or are those kind of all over as well?

The Spider-Man one takes place above the web slingers building as you walk into the land from the main entrance. The black widow/black panther show takes place on Avengers Headquarters where quintet is. The Dr strange show is just to the right of where the exit into cars land is. I’m not sure where the other one takes place.

Thanks! So basically just be on the lookout! 🤣

Appreciate all the real time tips as we prep for our visit tomorrow.

I’ve seen mention a couple times that they are doing standby food lines at Pyms. Is that just for food or also for the Tasting Lab? And are the “beakers” from Tasting lab kinda neat souvenirs or more of a flimsy single use disposable?

On Friday, the Pym standby was for both, but policies seem to change daily. As for the souvenir beakers, they are sturdy plastic and definitely reusable. That said, the bottom does say it's not microwave or dishwasher safe, so you do need to handwash them.

eta: There are also markings up to 500mL (which my DH just verified for accuracy), so you can use it as a liquid measuring cup as well.

For anybody curious, tried again at noon on data. It still spun, but not as long. I hesitated on selecting our party (which I know I won't have to do in person), so I missed out, but I got further than I did before, so have a little more hope on maybe securing an afternoon one.

Regardless of how it ends up going for me, THANK YOU to everybody on this thread who has offered their advice and experiences. It really is invaluable information.
