Avengers Campus Superthread – Opening June 4, 2021!

We went yesterday and (as we all know) it was a madhouse, we did all of our eating and drinking outside of AC before we got called for our BG. All or most of the AC merch is available at the Backlot Premiere Shop.
Are the spider bots available there? That's what my daughter is really hoping to get. But reading this thread we may not ever make it into AC. My kids won't be willing to wait for hours to get in.

I am still really confused about how ordering from Pym's test kitchen works. I tried multiple times today and couldn't find any availability. When do the mobile ordering times open up? We are going in a few days and were really hoping to eat there. Thanks!
Breakfast slots dropped around 8am. The first slots for lunch dropped at 10:15am this morning. I saw dinner time slots starting 30 min out around 4:30 this afternoon.

Yes, the spider bots plus attachments are sold there as are the web slinger interactive things and accessories.

Yes the shopping inside AC is very little actually. The backlot next to Monsters inc was the place to shop for avengers stuff. My wife wouldn’t let me buy the almost $8k Iron man suit darn it :confused3. So I settled for a shirt. Bots were available in several spots I saw through DCA.

A few notes from today. Overall it was an awesome visit. I was worried that the day could go off the rails due to the various issues I experienced on my visit a few weeks ago and the issues that have been brought up here from others’ recent visits.

Got in line outside harbor around 6:30. Line was long but moved quickly once it started going. However, the line that grew behind where I was looked absolutely insane.

At 7am got a boarding group for WS by refreshing the CA tab page right at 7am. Group 16.

Snuck in a quick RSR walk on before we were called back for WS around 8:30am.

Had about a 20-30 minute wait for WS after getting in line. We all liked Web Slingers. Although it is basically the next generation of Midway Mania. The “game” seems to have a lot more going on and probably has better replay ability because of it. Although, there’s something about being in a big vehicle in front of large screens that really gives off a Universal/Transformers vibe. Still, I look forward to riding it again and am happy to have it as an option in the park.

Kept looking for a lunch Pym lunch slot every 15 minutes basically all morning. Finally they opened it at 10:15 and I snagged an 11:15 return time but it looked like they went quick.

-The Shawarma was the hit of all the food we ordered. We all liked it and will get it again. Big hit.

-I loved the giant pretzel. Fair warning though, it’s not necessarily very “pretzely”. It was more like a soft warm log of bread. But I really liked it and so did the kids.

-Chicken sandwich was good, but as others have pointed out the chicken is more like schnitzel than what you’d normally get in a fried chicken sandwich. It was good but not something I’ll be getting again any time soon.

- The big candy bar thing was delicious. This was probably my second favorite after the Shawarma. It’s really rich and sweet, so you’ll love it if that’s your thing.

They have converted the Hyperion waiting area into extended seating for Pym, so that area is blocked off as part of Avengers Campus. This is also where the Shawarma Too cart is, so know that they are both inside the new land.

Saw the Spider-Man stunt show and the fight at the Avengers headquarters show. The kids loved these. Without question, the thing the kids loved most in the entire land was the SpiderMan appearance and specifically Spider-Man flying through the air. Disney: bring back more live entertainment to your parks!!!!!!!!

Outside Avengers Campus, lines at DCA felt nonexistent. We hardly waited for anything all day. A few rides like Incredicoaster and Goofy’s had posted 20 minute waits but were essentially walk ons. So many people were either inside AC or in the line for it, the rest of the park felt pretty light.

Also got lucky and snagged a RotR boarding group at noon, but that’s for another thread!

I liked AC and think it’ll be a nice addition to the park once it gets to be “normal” (no standby line just to enter the land).

I gotta say though, if I had not gotten a Boarding Group for WS, I would have skipped going in. For me, there is very little sense in waiting for hours to get into a land where you can’t ride the one new attraction and likely can’t eat at the new restaurant because of the difficulty of timing a mobile order. But judging from the long standby line to get into AC, plenty of other people disagree.

For anyone worried about managing a visit to AC, just know that despite the chaos it IS possible for it all to work out. Just be on top of the WS boarding group at 7am and the Pym mobile order depending on when you are looking to eat.

Not exactly. You could order they just wouldn’t let you inside if you did. You also got a lot more warning messages telling you to wait till you were in the land to order.
I’m confused by all of this. Are the mobile ordering slots for breakfast really only for those who scored 7am boarding passes for WS? (Not physically banned for others, but logistically) Otherwise how does one know at 8am when they dropped, whether they’ll get into AC during breakfast hours.

I’m sure it’s too much to hope for, but I’m really hoping this is changed before next week - or demand dies down a little. I’m prepared we may not get WS, but I’ll be disappointed if we can’t even get in the land.

We had similar experiences today.

I got in the harbor line just before 6 am and was back by the tram route. The moved the lines a little bit so I ended up under the monorail track. At 7 I got WS boarding group 20.
When parks opened we went to rsr first and there were only a couple dozen people in front of us so we got on quickly. Saw the first loaded car go is how close to the front we were.

Next we rode incredicoaster and then toy story and both were very short waits of less than 5 min.
Our WS BG was called as we were on TSMM ( we got off TSMM about 8:55 or so). We headed over to AC and got in line for WS. Ride was a lot of fun. Not my favorite but one I would do on future trips.
Then we got a breakfast shawarma. We got in line at the stand near WS but a CM told us of the other cart near GOTG that usually has a shorter line and sure enough she was right. Only 2 people in line so we ate there next to the hyperion theater.
Next we rode GOTG twice before the line started growing. Had to get that in knowing that we might not get a chance to ride later in the day once we left AC which was a smart move on our part.
DD doesn’t like GOTG so she got a treat from Terran treats while she waited for us (don’t know what it was, it was some kind of purple cheesecake thing but I had a bite and it was pretty good).
We then looked around the rest of AC and saw the fight show with black panther and black widow.
Saw Capt Marvel walking around in that same area the fight show happened (up near the quin jet ). Saw Spider-mans stunt show which was cool. We wanted to do other things.

We did every ride in DCA that we wanted to and several more than once. Wait times went up and down quite a bit so we just went where they were shorter. I found the wait times in DCA to usually be much shorter than posted so that was nice.

Never did get to try pyms kitchen but that’s ok, I wasn’t super excited about anything on it, just wanted to try one or two things and see.

Food wise we had lunch at Hollywood lounge near monsters inc. The nachos were decent. The mobile order set up wasn’t very good though. Waited in a long line to get the food only to be told (at the window the app told me to go to when my order was ready) that my order would be at the food truck over to the right. So I had to go stand in another line. The food truck wasn’t supposed to serve drinks for some reason even though they had them. One customer before me wanted to cancel his drinks because he didn’t want to go stand in the long line (who can blame him) after having stood in the line I was now in. So they just did his drinks right there. So dumb how they were trying to do it and confusing to the customers.

We had ice cream at Ghirardelli and later from cozy cone.
DW and I had dinner at Flos and DD had the bacon mac n cheese cone from cozy cone.

I was hoping to maybe get a little disney magic and get back into AC late as people were flooding out at a little after 8pm but it was not to be. I wanted to see it at night and possible get one more GOTG ride in. But the CMs I asked were not letting anyone else in. They closed the line to get into AC sometime before 7pm because people wouldn’t have had enough time to get into AC if they got in line at that point.

Back to DL tomorrow for our last day of this trip. Very happy with how today went overall.

Back from an awesome day. It was a 1 day only in DCA and a 1 day in DL tomorrow for us. BG 34 at 7 which was perfect. Arrived at 7.30 to mayhem but it moved quickly we were in the park by 8.15. Straight to RSR around a 50minute wait! WS called about 10.30, so headed on into AC. It was cool to see and the mini pop up appearances were fab! Felt Disney especially despite the lack of what is traditional right now.! Somehow caught GOTG at worst time (30min wait) but was much shorter as we were leaving AC. WS was fantastic (40 minute wait from entering)!I’d stayed away from reports so was completely unknown to us! Loved it! Super clever and very entertaining. Although felt like a decent arm workout. For us, we were super happy to get into AC and see it as well as ride WS but, if I had to wait in a queue to enter a land that had one ride I could ride! I personally wouldn’t! By 9am they were telling people in standby it could be 4plus hours! I have no idea how long that grew to throughout the day, but Goofy was keeping everyone entertained with his fishing skills!

They won’t know. But with mobile order you don’t actually pay for your food until you hit the I’m here button.

is the GOTG ride only accessible now if you're in Avengers Campus?

Apparently, yes - only if you're in AC :(
(AC covers through to Hyperion Theatre)

eta.. post #118 on pg.6 of this thread has a photo showing the AC area

I get that. And I know mobile ordering is working better overall compared to the first few weeks, so likely not an issue anymore, but it would suck to miss booking a window some place else hoping you’ll be in for your one at AC.

I think there was a way Disney could have done this so much better, but it is what it is.

Thank you everyone that was there yesterday and Posted your experiences! I know things will change daily and frequently as we await our trip, but it's very encouraging hearing all the success stories outside of AC right now with decent wait times. I almost hope they keep the same waiting line for AC when we go. I really just want to get in if I get a WS boarding group.

Looking forward to more exciting stories today and throughout the week

For those of you that have regular park tickets versus park hopper tickets, do you regret that you didn't get a park hopper ticket? The reason I ask is because I bought 3 day park tickets without the park hopper option. This is the first time I've done that, usually I get park hopper tickets. But I bought the regular park tickets because I felt there was enough for us to see/do in one day at each park without hopping back and forth. But now that there are these rules in place for virtual queues at WS and ROTR, I'm rethinking my decision and wondering if I should upgrade my family's tickets to park hoppers. I'm just afraid that we won't be able to get a boarding pass for WS and ROTR. I just wonder if a park hopper ticket will increase our chances for both.

Played again with it right now and using the pull down/resfresh method was definitely easier, but it still spun & spun trying to load my tickets and it was a no go. Guess I’ll play around with it again using data instead of wifi.

I tried this morning as well on cell and had the same problem with web slingers. Never had the problem before with rise of the resistance practice taking so long to load the tickets

Those are great questions. I have a 3 day 1 park only ticket as well for August. I don't think I'll switch, but knowing you could do both RotR and ws in one day if you're extremely lucky would be fun. We're going after the opening time changes to 8, so that's 1 more hour of rides available to possibly get on before the noon drop.
