Availability in February?

My family and I are thinking about booking a stay using our DVC points for the end of February at WDW. Our home resort is GCV so we won't be able to book a stay until the 7 month mark. How is availability for that time of the year? We would mostly want a studio since it will just be the 3 of us. Also, don't really want to stay at Saratoga or Old Key West.

Mid Feb to end of Feb starts to fill up quick starting around Presidents day but you should at least be able to get a studio in AKL or Boulder Ridge...unfortunately for you, the two with the most availability at that time are the two you named above...good luck!

Thank you! We'd be okay with AKL or Boulder Ridge so I'll keep my fingers crossed there is still availability at the 7 month window.

I have had luck trading out at 7 months but didn’t mind split stays and used both the waitlist and stalking to get what I wanted.

There’s variability between different sets of dates in Feb, especially around Prez Day. Generally though going by historic patterns at 7 months Feb sees good studio availability for AKV savanna or standard view. Others very possible: BLT lake view, BWV garden view, and maybe Poly.
Like Sandy said tho, nobody’s quite certain how much of an impact Covid will have on the system. There could be more competition for 2022.
If you like AKL that’s good news because for studio availability that comes right after OKW and SSR. And if bookings do happen to get tough, there’s always Sandy’s backup plan of stalking &/or split staying. Goodluck! We loved AKL savannah

Thank you both! Definitely something I need to keep in mind. We’ve had the Savannah view before and loved it. Here’s hoping it works out.

Presidents' Day is not actually the problem of major significance. You mention end of February. Presidents' Day is at the latest it can possibly be in 2022, February 21. The Princess half-marathon weekend was cancelled in 2021 because of Covid, but it might return in 2022. The Princess half-marathon weekend is always the weekend immediately after Presidents' Day, meaning it would occur from Feb 24 to 27, 2022, unless cancelled for 2022. That four-day weekend is typically the highest DVC demand time that exists at WDW between mid-Jan and late Sep.

That means that all studios , everywhere, could be gone before 7-months out for at least some of the days during that weekend, with some chance otherwise at SSR, and possibly, but lower chance, at OKW or Kidani (savanna view). In other words, if your late Feb reference includes that weekend, you may want to start considering alternative dates

I might need to look at different dates - thank you for the heads up. I'm trying to find dates that coincide with my son's school calendar, but most people are doing the same, lol.

Do you mind doing a split stay? We love them and have had no problem finding a few nights in February at many of the resorts. I’ll be trying to switch a few of our days at 7 months also so you might see some bay lake tower standard view rooms show up if you’re looking

I don’t think I’d mind it because I like checking out all the different resorts, lol. I was thinking about that - we have a free night at a moderate resort (after a debacle that happened the last time we were at WDW) so I was even thinking about using that as a cushion if need be.

We do a split stay every trip! Sometimes we will do 3 resorts in a trip lol. we also like checking out the different resorts and are slowly making our way around all of them... but some we like so much we can’t help but go back It’s nice to visit the parks closer to your resorts and using the split stay to your advantage.
