Last night at dinner (after a few glasses of wine) my DH invited some friends to join us at WDW the 2nd week in Dec without checking to see if their is DVC availability first! I don't care where we stay, just as long as we can get a 2 bedroom. Has anyone checked recently? I know I will find out tomorrow, but I can't stop thinking about this! Thanks.

That's a very popular time and many people book it right at the 11 month mark. However, by booking so far in advance there are many cases where plans change. When you call tomorrow if they say there is nothing available, ask to go on the waitlist at any and all resorts that appeal to you. You might want to consider two studios as a possibility to increase your options. Also, think about whether you have the flexibility to book "day by day" from the waitlist. You'll have to keep careful records of what becomes available and cancel things as you piece together one complete reservation.

I hope this not quite "spur of the moment" trip comes to pass!

Hi,

I called early last week as my inlaws can now come with us Dec 8-13. My home resort is BCV which was totally booked. I waitlisted for that as well as BWV - a 2BR just like you. I didn't try any of the others as we want to be near Epcot. I really hope BCV comes through as we want our parents to experience our home resort, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Anyway, good luck to you too!

How about 60 days out? Due to unavoidable last minute cancellation most of my points went into holding.

On June 23rd, I booked a 2BR at BCV for December 12-17. They even had a dedicated 2 BR with 2 queens. I was shocked! Good luck getting what you want!

Are you also talking about early December? If so, I think your chances are not very good. Keep in mind that any unreserved point inventory is often made available to CRO to rent for cash at the 60 day mark. Thus members are often competing with the general public for rooms at that point. December weekends are very popular with the non-DVC public due to all the holiday activities and decorations.

Your best chance will come 31 -30 days out as that is when members must cancel or risk points going into holding. Another chance will come at 7 days. That's when the waitlists expire and many will not bother calling after that.

Wishing you good luck!
