I signed up thru CD yesterday. No "welcome" email rec'd yet, but the $1 for the trial membership showed on my cc account.

Tried to log on to my account on the website but could not using the usual username and password that I chose.

Called the toll free # and got a barely understandable (heavy accent) person who said odd things like "your membership may not have been pushed through" ("pushed through"-- like with a broom???) and asked me, "do you have your full name?" (ummm, I don't have it handy, hold on, let me look it up. )
She ended up having put me on hold to talk to someone else about my concerns (never a good sign) and came back telling me to wait another 24 hrs to see if I get a welcome email. She said my info is not in their system yet.

I'm getting bad vibes about this company. First of all, every time there has been a delay in getting the welcome email for an offer, I've run into difficulty. Secondly, how is it that my info is not in their system, yet my cc has been billed???? :confused3 I don't like when they have all of my info but I have nothing to show for my sign-up........no member #, no access to website, no correspondance from them.

Anyone have any experience, good or bad, w/ this company?

Cancellation was a pain in the neck. And it didn't credit.

Thanks for the heads up about cancelling. When I hear this, I make a note to start cancellation attempts sooner than normal.

The thing is, I just dropped my AAA membership and really wanted to look over this offer..............so far they are not impressing me...........billing me but telling me that I'm "not in the system".
Guess I'd better not get my hopes up about the $40 in free gas that they promise when you sign up!

same thing happened to me, I did it on CD a few days ago and so far no welcome email and no credit :confused3

I did successfully use one $10 gas voucher.

FWIW, I've always had really poor luck getting this offer to credit for anyone. And then about the time that I start filing disputes with the advertiser, the offer gets pulled and they tell me that I am out of luck. I didn't want to respond earlier because I didn't want to discourage anyone from trying it. But I didn't run it this time because I've been screwed over so many times in the last 2 years by it. It seems to come back about every 6 months.

Argh, you know I very rarely do trials, but this looked like something I wanted to compare w/ AAA, and see if it was cost effective to switch. Now I wish I had waited so I saw this thread! I hope I don't have to cancel my cc over this.

Thanks, sunshinegirl! I knew I smelled a rat with this one!

I still have no welcome email and cannot access my member account online..........call me silly but if my cc has been charged shouldn't I have access to my account, even if it is just a trial period? :confused3

I will try the toll free # again today. If I get the "run-around" again, I will threaten to report them to my cc company and have the $1. charge reversed! From what I've been told (by Chase), when a cc reverses a fraudulent charge the company doing the fraudulent billing is also charged a fee for the reversal. Sure, it's only $1 out of my pocket, but if I can't even get to my account info., it's fraud! :headache:

It's a shame, I might have stuck with this one if the benefits suited me. :sad2:

Sorry for the bump, just wanted to update. It has been 15 days since I joined, my cc was charged the $1, no info received, I called and they have no record of me, but wanted my cc# again to search that way. I wasn't about to give them the info. I did however cancel my cc and had a new # and card issued. I also reported them to my cc for fraud.

So, in case you hadn't figured by now...DO NOT DO THIS OFFER

Ditto the above for me! Funny thing was, my cc was billed $1.05 by a company named "Adteractive"- I know this was the autovantage charge bc. I only use this cc for trial offers and I only did one (autovantage) on the date of that transaction. Well, autovantage denied up and down that this was their charge, even saying to me "Why are you calling us about a charge from Adteractive?" (Duh, parent companies can own a slew of other sub-companies but the billing charge appears under the parent company's name!) Anyway, I alerted my cc company to the possible fraudulent charge, they noted it and said to keep an eye on it. Since it was a temp charge, it should come off. If it didn't or any added charges appeared, they would investigate for fraud. The charge did end up coming off. I tried to cancel Autovantage, but since they have no record of my joining, there was nothing to cancel..........got the name of the rep I spoke w/ just in case. Kept record of all this! These kinds of things is what makes me think twice about trial offers.........most go smoothly, but every now and then :scared1:

That is what mine was billed from also, but $1.01.

OMG- and that woman (a supervisor, none-the-less) from Autovantage swore to me repeatedly and vehemently that they had NO CONNECTIONS with Adteractive and that was NOT their charge! She treated me as if I was the confused one! At least, since reading your post, I can be certain that I WAS right and that charge was, indeed, from Autovantage. What a LOSER company!

I think I will email Kira @ CD about our experiences with this offer.

Thanks for looking out for us and not running it this time, SunshineGirl :goodvibes None of us need the headaches!
