Does anyone know where I can get something similar to what they sell at WDW? I am trying to get all the little stuff ahead of time. I already got the kids notebooks to use for autographs. I guess I am just worried about the pens being wide enough for the CM's to hold.

Your best bet is a Sharpie marker. We got the "disney" pens and they just didn't write as dark or as well as the markers. I got a 6 pack in different colors at Staples and put them on the table (if we were at a character meal) or let my kids pick the color if we were on line to see a character. This made the books more colorful and killed some time in line! Have Fun! Good Luck!

Whatever you get, be sure they are LARGE. Some of those costumes don't allow much manual dexterity and a small pen is going to be more difficult for some of the characters.

I was able to find a 4 pack of basic colors of "Marks a Lot" markers. They are nice and fat and are retactable, and are permanent. Cheaper than sharpies but worked great, and dd chose what color she would carry around in her fanny pack each day. Worked well for ALL those autographs she got! :flower:

I really wouldn't use permanent markers/sharpies. The character handlers told me one time that sometimes the characters pick up the sharpies with their big hands/paws and the marker gets on their costumes/fur/clothing and leaves marks all over.

we went to chef mickeys for dinner one night and the kids both decided last minute that they wanted autographs. the hostess brought them both paper and a regular bic pen, which none of the characters (Mickey, Minnie, Dale, Chip, Goofy) seemed to have a problem with.

we've always just used a regular bic pen too and haven't had any trouble. All the "stars" were able to sing their name just fine.

I bought some at a Family dollar store in our area.

They had big, fat ballpoint pens in a pack: 2 for $1.00. Got a couple packs. They were perfect for the characters to use. They retracted, so I didn't get ink all over my stuff (of course, Mom has to "hold" everything!! ), and best of all, they were so cheap that if we lost some it didn't matter.
