I just called the Disney store to see if they carry the autograph books, and she said they only sell them in the parks. Glad I called first the mall is 45 min away.
So I have seen others post about Laughingstore.com ( i think that was it) and also disneysmilesstore.com
i looked, and am just wondering are they the same books they sell at the parks? debating whether to order ahead or just let the kids buy them at the parks, i suspect they would be cheaper if i ordered them ahead online.

I would wait until you get to the parks. It will probably be more expensive to order before hand than if you wait.

If you're staying on property, pick one up at the hotel. If your not, there's at least one gift shop outside of every park (or right inside) so you can get one there.

The stores have rarely ever carried autograph books and when we do, they usually sell out quickly.

Thanks!, maybe I will just wait til we get there, I didn't realize the hotel gift shops will have them.

Hi there! We recently returned from our very first trip to WDW, and before we arrived, I had bought the click-it sharpies at WalMart to use for the autographs. I bought the books at the gift shop at TOT at MGM. I think they were 6.95. Anyway, my daughter is 6, and not real coordinated. She ended up with sharpie marker all over her new "vacation" clothes! They are slowly fading everytime I wash them, but in a lot of photos she's standing there with marker all over her clothes! Ha! I just thought I'd share that.

But the important part is the click-able Sharpie. We were down last december and the some of the characters made comments about the marker. "What a good idea" It is easier for them to hold because it was big.

LOL.....yep I won't let my 4 yo hold it for long. It will be all over!!!!:rotfl:

We have done WDW the past 2 summers, my DD is now 7. Last summer, I bought the autograph book at resort along with the large Mickey pen. The characters loved the size of the large pen, it was easy for them to hold. I did have to clean a little ink off of her clothes, but I am sure it was easier than a Sharpie. I also scrapbook, so I took several sheets of scrapbook paper, cut into triangles and used removable adhesive to attach a triangle to each page of the autograph book. We asked each character to sign directly on the triangle...every one of the characters was very accomodating. When we got home, I removed each triangle and placed it in the scrapbook next to each picture of my daughter & the character. It turned out super cute. I reused the autograph book this past summer with new triangles, then completed the 2nd scrapbook when we got back! I was sure to focus on characters that we did not manage to get last year and a few new ones too...like Remy! You will be able to find an autograph book EVERY WHERE you look at WDW. They always have girlie princess ones and blue mickey ones for the boys. You will have a much better selection and probably better pricing too if you wait util you get there! ENJOY!!!:headache:

Thanks! and what a great idea for the scrapbook:thumbsup2

By chance do you happen to have a picture of this scrapbook? I'm not a creative person, so if I can see what you've done, maybe it can help me create one for my DD4 for when we go in less than 2 weeks!!!
TIA!

I hadn't thought about an autograph book.... do you think we should still do it if our DD is only almost two?

I made a travel journal last year for our daughter -- using the printouts from the MouseforLess website and just putting it in a vinyl binder. Rather than having a separate autograph book and travel journal, we printed out extra blank pages and had the characters sign those. Then we printed out pics and added them when we got home. She was able to take the whole thing to school and give a little "travel report". We're doing it again this yr (she's in 2nd grade) and doing the journal will be her "homework" for the trip.

I don't know about WDW, but the autograph books at Disneyland were much less expensive than if I had ordered one ahead of time from laughing place's store. Especially considering shipping.

I'd advise against the sharpies...any type...for the characters. We'd purchased several colors of sharpies for autographs, and after the second CM character handler mentioned how difficult it is to get the marker off the costumes, we purchased the typical autograph pen from the gift shop.

Face characters, of course, are fine with the sharpies. However, after the CMs mentioned this to me I began noticing how many characters have sharpie stains all over their hands.

I am new so I hope this works. I bought this autograph book off e-bay. It comes with a matching bag and you can put your pins on the strap. The lady that sells them is SUPER nice and has lots of different fabrics for the young and the old.

Before we went on our WDW vacation last month we stoped at the Disney store (about 35 miles away) and they had some cute little autograph books...DD8 and DD5 had already picked their choices out (Limited choices... I think it was Alice in Wonderland) when I noticed the prettiest Gold books held shut with a gold band over a pretty 'gem' stone. It had the three princesses on the cover. The girls were thrilled. I did pay 12.95 for them but they are so beautiful. I had tons of comments about them at the characters meals/etc. Now, I am not sure if these were initally autograph books or Journals but the pages had no writing on them so they worked perfectly for us.

I have had a few autograph items over the years, One that went well was a giant pluto I had to tag along but it turned out so wonderful for a toddler.

The years after I also went through the $6.95 book and it fell apart. This year I bought the larger one for $10.95, two of them and they had room for picture with a slot in plastic, and the opposite page had the autograph area.

I bought a character book and Princess book, I think they held about 12-15 autographs. ALso a big fat Princess pen because been there with the markers and they did bleed through the page a bit too.

If traveling with two parents let one wait in the barnstorm princess line and the other in the character line so you are able to get the autographs without super tired out kids. Oh and then send the parent over to the Minnie line, while you do Mickey.

Many families were doing this. I only had the one child, the parent that got to the top first took the kiddo, but don't think I would do it with several...Just me though.

The one thing I'd say about buying a book is - consider the size and how you are going to carry it! Some of the books sold at the parks are huge and I can't imagine lugging one of those around all day!

Are all the different types of autograph books sold at all the Disney parks? For example: Will Animal Kingdom only have ones themed for their park or will they have all the ones that MK has? I'm asking because we will be going to AK on our first day since the Parade taping is in MK on that day and want to avoid it at all costs, but I want to make sure the boys get their autograph books right away. I saw a really cool POTC one on Ebay that my 6yo will love and I am hoping they will have it available there. My 3yo, will probably go with the fab 5.

Also, where is the first photopass photographer at AK? I want to make sure I get as many of all four of us as possible since my camera will be taking the shots of just me or my DH with my DS's.

THANKS!!! :thumbsup2

I would also consider thinking about putting the autograph book in a ziplock bag-they fall apart if they get wet and ours mildewed. I was able to save the autographs by scanning them and fixing up water/mildew marks.
