My kids love making their own. We start out with a 3 ring binder, about 9 x 8. I buy 8 1/2 x 11 heavy paper. Not quite the thickness of card stock paper. I folded the paper, cut it in half, punched matching holes and then stuck on those punch hole reinforcers. We used stickers, colored pencils and I even downloaded some clip art and printed them onto clear labels. Most of the pages were decorated for a specific character and others we left blank. I also found some clear plastic holders that fit into the binder and the kids placed park maps, photos, pins, their room key, etc. I will admit that they are a bit awkward to carry around, but I just kept them in my backpack for when they were needed. Here's a picture of a page from DD's book
We bought the Disney autograph book when we got there - so it would match the little one sold for the Mr. Potato Head. We did bring a pack of bright Flairs for the autographs so it has a good variety of colors and the pens were easy for the charcters to hold. I was going to use Sharpies but someone had posted that they could stain the character's gloves - didn't want to do that!
