Auto Insurance through Costco

I keep getting letters from Costco Insurance Agency offering lower rates for auto insurance. They claim to be less than Allstate, Geico, Farmers and State Farm insurance in the letter. The letter says the insurance is through Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance.

Has anyone ever gotten their insurance through Costco? If so, are they really lower with rates as they claim? Also, if you have dealt with them, what has your experience been? Was filing a claim easy, do they have a brick and mortar office, do they have good customer service. Any info would help. I've always just thrown these letters away, but maybe it's time to look into it a bit.

I have had my car insurance through Costco for years, it was cheap enough that it justified paying the membership by what I was saving in $$$. My husband and I also have our homeowners insurance through them as well. We have never filed a claim, so don't know anything about that. We have saved lots of $$$ and been very happy with both.

I have their insurance and have had it for at least 5 years. Rates are great.

I have filed an auto claim and it was all paid promptly. The lady in charge of my claim was wonderful. As you can guess I am happy with the rates and service.
