Anyone have the Garmin Streetpilot C330 GPS that is in the ad for WM on black friday? I think it's $129.xx - anyway my dh wants one, is it a good one or does it stink? My dh doesn't need a fancy one, it's not like we go too far ;) . I heard that the good ones tell you the names of the streets on which you are turning, rather than - turn right ahead, turn left ahead, ect... I am assuming this one does not do that? :confused3

You're right...it doesn't have the 'text to speech' feature that announces the street names...but the Garmin's are always reviewed well, very easy to use...and that's a great price!

I've been researching myself. I hadn't planned on buying one because full prie they're so far out of my budget for something I won't use much. I can't justify $300+ on something I'll use a few times a year But at some of these prices, I'm ready to jump now. I've been trying to find reviews and it seems that one's rated pretty high, especially for that price.

I think I'm going to go for the TomTom 3rd Edition at Staples. It's $125 and you get a $20 Staples gift card. It also has good reviews, but what has me just about pushed over the edge is that I hear that map updates are free whereas other companies charge anywhere from $25-100 a year for those updates.

Hopefully someone that has researched longer than a week can pop in and give you more (better) information.

I have that unit and got it from WM. It is a good reliable and accurate GPS unit. Easy to use with intuitive menus. No the voice does not say the street names but the street names are displayed on the screen. You will be very happy at that price.

The C330 is an excellent unit with all of North American maps pre-loaded - you can also add maps (purchased separately) with the SD card slot.

I like the user interface much better than the TomTom one that I have used. Also the POI (point of interest) database includes the address when you do a lookup which I find to be a very important feature. With the TomTom interface it will just tell you how many km's away you are from the POI whereas the Garmin one will tell you the address as well.

It doesn't have the latest generation GPS receiver so there are sometimes issues with getting a good signal from the satellites when you are around tall buildings but on the open road you will have no problems. At this price point I would definitely purchase another one if I could get to a Walmart!
