Auspicious August 2025 W.I.S.H. Thread

I'm fortunate that my household is all early risers, so everyone goes to bed between 7:30-8:30PM.

DD travels for work a lot. She's in NY this week, commuting every day except for Thursday because she is getting a hotel on Wednesday night. Visual Stylists at Bloomingdales report for work at 7AM, and when she can, she will report at 6AM. She's up for a promotion (please God), so she's putting in even more time. She wakes up any time between 3:30AM-4:30AM depending on where she will be and what time she must be in the store.

DH reports anytime between 6AM and 7AM depending on overtime. He's also up at the crack of dawn.

I had to get up this summer at 5:15AM. Once school starts, I will get to sleep in until 5:45AM lol.

I'm usually the last one to bed. I make it a practice to get off my devices an hour before bed. My phone is on "Do Not Disturb" after school dismissal. I shower, apply my magnesium cream (which helps me sleep more deeply), then read until I can't keep my eyes open. Sleep is so important to overall health and well-being, but especially weight loss.

Water...I drink out of a 24 oz. Tervis Tumbler all day long. I bring two with me to school, and sometimes that isn't enough. I will need a 3rd one now that I'm working until 6-6:30PM. Other than water, and the occasional cocktail or glass of wine, my only other beverage is milk or a fruit/vegetable smoothie. I gave up diet soda 20+ years ago. Initially, I switched to flavored seltzer. Now I just drink water.

DH goes to bed at about 8 and then "reads". Really he falls asleep shortly after laying down. My teenagers stay up late and when I thought DD might be going away to school, I started to stay up and spend that time with her. She is staying home so time for me to get back to a better sleep schedule. I start work at 7:30 but I only need to roll out of bed and make to the the living room to my desk. Starting in September DH will be going back to the office 2 days a week. One of the days is the one day I am in the office. I will need to be up by 6 to leave by 6:15 (I will have to learn to have everything together the night before) to drop him off at work and get to work myself. It will only be for 2 weeks then I will have my surgery. I will be on restriction (can't lift anything over 10 pounds) so I will be working from home the next 6ish weeks until I am cleared. So sleeping will be my start.

Hydration, a healthy diet, quality sleep, and regular exercise are the four pillars that hold up the edifice of your weight loss journey.
Hydration is the one I need to work on most right now. I don't know why I've gotten worse about it lately, but I can definitely feel the difference. I need to "routine-ify" it somehow.

I just got the “all-clear” to set up my classroom tomorrow. DH thankfully has a lot of time and flexibility to take time off, so he will be coming with me tomorrow to move furniture, lay down the rugs, assemble a Little Tikes cottage and teacher chair, and whatever else I may need. The day he can no longer do these things, I will be in trouble.

So this is it…my last day of summer. I have been busy all morning with chores and some schoolwork. Now I’m finally settling down for lunch and then a swim in the pool.

It feels weird that we didn’t go on vacation this summer, but we are focusing on other things. Now it’s all about school. I am going to try not to panic and just have faith that somehow it will all work out.

The start of the school year is so different this year. Our district goes back to tomorrow and since my kids have graduated it just feels weird. Now I will be getting first day of school pictures next week when they go back (they don't know it yet) but it is just different. Plus DS just moved out this weekend. He decided to rent a house with 5 other guys. Since his school is in our town, he only moved about 5 minutes away. He has been home every day so far. I think he is lonely at the house as the other guys are slowly moving in through the week and weekend. The past 2 nights he has been by himself. I am really missing the hustle and bustle of this time of year. I still went to band camp to watch in the evenings (a friend of mine's son is a senior in the band this year). I will also go to a few football games. I really feel like I have to figure out my next part of life. It is just weird but necessary in a bad way.
