Auspicious August 2025 W.I.S.H. Thread

I just want to give you all a heads-up that after the 20th, I may be MIA a lot of the time. The beginning of the school year is quite challenging under normal circumstances, but this year I am also working after school, and they took away our paraprofessionals. So far I have 19 students, 5 of which have special needs. I also have 4 retainees, 3 of which I expect to refer to special education. That will mean that almost half of my students so far will have special needs, and I will not have my assistant. 8 of my students speak Portuguese, and 3 speak Spanish. I'm awaiting the last 5 students to register, and God only knows what their needs will be.

So, I will not be signing up to host for September, and possibly October. I will try to pop in, but I am entering survival mode in one week.

If you believe in prayer, I could really use some prayers right about now. Good vibes work too.

Woohoo.. yesterday, for the first time in a very long time, I woke up feeling like myself. And I had a good productive work day with my brain functioning much better. And woohoo that I finished with the antibiotics yesterday.

Woohoo... today I have my first appointment with a chiropractor in my town. After all the coughing and laying around I really need an adjustment, so fingers crossed that I like him.

Woohoo... to kick of vacation I have a massage appointment Saturday morning, then Sunday I head down to the ocean. I'm going to the area I visit every year, one of the towns is where I was born and we lived as a young family, so it will be very nostalgic as well as very ocean-y. Plus I'm going to go thrifting to some of the places my favorite YouTube thifter goes to, which should be fun.

I'm thankful that I do like the new Chiropractor and his treatment approach. Sadly he didn't do an adjustment yesterday it was just the exam and x-rays. Hopefully my massage Saturday will help enough that I can get some good walks in at the ocean.

Also thankful that I am feeling better in time to really enjoy my week off and not have it just be another week of laying around.

I am thankful for my summer job. Tomorrow is the last day. It gave me extra income that I unexpectedly needed. It kept me out of trouble and gave me a sense of purpose. I grew attached to campers and staff, and they grew attached to me. One of my campers made a friendship bracelet that spelled out, "I love Mrs. M."

I am thankful that summer weather will continue into the next several weeks, so even though I must go back to school, I will be able to swim on the weekends.

I am thankful that instead of gaining weight, I lost weight this summer.

For some reason every night this week I've gone to bed thinking "yah, tomorrow is Friday!" Thankfully that has finally come true.

We're supposed to get actual rain today, not just drizzle, and I'm not mad about it because it'll feel so good and cleansing... speaking of cleansing I need to get the car washed but if it does rain maybe I can get away with just driving around for a bit.

I have a mental list of the things I want to find thrifting when I'm at the beach, but I think I need to write it all down. We're having two Christmas's this year and for the first one I'm planning on making everyone candles in glass compote style containers, so I need to find 6. Then for second Christmas I have categories for each person: Sis/deviled egg plates, Niece/vases or serving dishes, Nephew-in-law/barware. Then there's my own list... Looking forward to the hunting.

Just got back from wdw a few hours ago. Nice trip but boy i am exhausted!
Although I am not happy with my weight and I can see/feel it being more than last trip after I must say I am happy/proud of something. We walked over 10 miles every day in feel like temps of 100+ and I didn’t have trouble breathing and nothing aside from my feet hurts. No back, knee or hip pain. So while my tummy is bigger I think my muscles are bouncing back to their pre-kids strength. And for that I am proud of the work I’ve done.

I love chocolate…dark chocolate is a daily treat for me. Chocolate chip cookies are yummy, but they’re not currently in my life while I work on losing weight. I am allowing myself the occasional cocktail. I am severely allergic to cats, so other than the feral cats in my neighborhood, they are not in my life.

My letter right now is S…sun, swimming, and school.

How do you know for sure that you are a rusty old PNW'er? This morning when I checked the weather for Long Beach it said sunny 80's and I thought yuck. Then realized I was looking at Long Beach CA. In Long Beach WA it is going to be mid-60's and overcast... hallelujah!

I head out in a few. I am so glad to have this week off and to be heading out to the coast. Thank you past Lizanne for knowing this would be the exact right thing to do.
