Aulani layout

It is my understanding that the wing to the right (the larger of the two wings) on the rendering of the resort is the DVC Villas. So, all villas would be together. The wing on the left would be the hotel.

That's my understanding too, from the original announcement. They said the DVC villas were near the convention center. :confused3 I still think that is a strange place to put them.

According to my friend who is working on the project, there are 6 "towers", four of which will be dedicated to DVC and the other two for hotel rooms....

Looking at the direction rooms face, makes you wonder which are going to be designated "ocean" view.

If you look at this 'aerial' from ocean view,
I would say the 'end unit' on the right side facing the ocean is 'definetly' of course
And then probably the 'wing' that is out towards the right edge facing the ocean
I would say the middle areas are probably 'pool' but some will still have an 'ocean' view of course
Kinda like some of the BLT 'mixed views' that are actually 'magic kingdom' views but not classified as such

I'm hoping that work2play starts a thread for Aulani like she did for BLT. Her BLT thread is awesome! It has maps of all of the BLT rooms by accommodation type and view category, and lots of photos of the actual room views. We need the same info for Aulani!!!

You have to wonder if someone goes onto every balcony looks around and says I think this one is a __________. Makes me wonder how they come up with the designation otherwise.

It doesn't look like any standard views would be bad! Awesome!

Looks like lots of garden/pool views

The building is bretty tall, I dont think even SV will be too bad of a view if request higher floor.

I would think that the SV would very likely be the lower floors with parking, limited or obstructed views like BLT.

Ah, thanks for posting that. I would imagine the standard view is probably of the surrounding neighborhoods and the parking lot that is destined to go in there.

In most Hawaii resorts that would be an Island View unless it were a very low floor and severly obstructed.

I agree with bookwormde's opinion. I'm curious, however, where the Grand Villas will located. The draft point chart that was posted, then retracted, shows that Aulani's GVs will have either a Standard View or Ocean View. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't all GVs at all the other DVC resorts located on the top floors? I can't imagine that a GV would be located on the first or second floor, which is where I think the Standard View villas will be located. If an Aulani GV is on a top floor but not facing the Ocean, then I would think it would be classified as having, at a minimum, an Island View.

We have to remember that the Aulani point chart was not the official chart and that the official one (due out on July 1st), may have some significant changes.

There are rooms on the lower floors that look at the parking structure, I noticed that. And there would be rooms that look next door at the Marriott. Next time I'm out I'll take better pics of where they face, etc.
