Aulani, Ko Olina Point Charts..Not So Bad!!!

Points are fine but whats the odds of getting the resort at 7 months? I think its going to be a challange. The economy will slow it down but I think it will sell very well.

Yeah, 7 month availability is going to be the issue.

Which is why I'm seriously thinking about adding on in Hawaii. Maybe just 160 and go every 2 or 3 years. Just gotta see if I can swing it.

Actually that brings up an interesting thought..........

I wonder if WDW DVC owners trying to save / bank / borrow points for trips to Hawaii will lessen the burden on WDW booking.

Probably not.

For those that might not be too familiar with Hawaii and its busy season, I can tell you that during the Disney Premier Season of April 29th until May5th will be impossible to get at any date other than 11 month mark.
I bet even at 10 month mark your choice of available rooms will be severely limited.

That is because DVC has been heavily promoting the Aulani in Japan and the period from April 29th - May5th is called Golden Week.
Just about the entire country is on vacation and Hawaii is a favorite vacation destination.

Just my guess for what it is worth.

That's one of the reasons why we are going to try and go in 2012. If it follows the same path as BLT, the first year after opening will be pretty open for booking non-home reservations. After it sells out, though, I'm sure it will be a challenge. :rolleyes1

That explains why "Easter" is 3 weeks long in 2011 (which, of course, is also not relevant for 2011, since the resort won't be open yet).

We have a vacation rental on Maui and bought it from a Japanese corporation that was pulling out of the Hawaii real property market in 2000-2001. We have never been impacted by Golden Week, but that may be explained by the time frame we have owned. -- Suzanne

I'm glad our anniversary is on the 16th of May!!! We are (almost) empty-nesters, so after this year, we can basically go whenever they have openings.:banana::banana: Can't wait!

And I can see many DVC members booking a studio to save points. I can see it now, you can only get a standard villa and a studio any category at 11 months.

Do we have any idea of the villa breakdowns? i.e. how many of each type? We seen any layouts like that yet?

There are layouts on display at the official Disney Aulani website. I haven't seen any information about Aulani's accommodation breakdown. Once we find out the number of villas in each view category, we might be able to judge whether certain villas might be available at the 7-month mark. I'm assuming that Disney will continue its recent practice of having only grand villas and 2-bedroom lock-off and dedicated villas -- and that Aulani won't have any dedicated studios or 1-bedrooms.

Has anyone heard when the lease will expire on Aulani's contracts?

If we're healthy enough then and financially able, why not celebrate our "30th" in a BIG WAY! Our oldest DS will be 26 and our youngest DS will be 18 and hopefully tucked safely away in college! :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Can't wait to start looking at Aulani pics as the build out progresses!:dance3::dance3::cheer2::cheer2:

jerseygal --- this is scary,

Our 30th anniversary will be August 2013, our oldest DD will be 26 and our DS will be 18 !!!:scared1:

I think the generally positive reaction to the Aulani point charts is because of the BLT and VGC point charts. We have been "assimilated" to higher point charts than the first DVC resorts. I can't help but compare them to OKW. I know, I know, WDW is not Hawaii, but as far as value for the vacation $$, there also is no comparison. Especially with the flight cost from the east coast.

That is funny, but the kids ages?????????Wow!

How will you celebrate the big "30" in 2013??????

Whatever the case, hope you have a wonderful happy 30 yr anniversary in 2013 and many more! Happy "27" coming up!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes:dance3:

Super excited!!! However, there is no way we can buy points as living in the UK it's just too expensive to fly to Hawaii yearly!!! We would love to go next year, but wondering about availability at the 7 mnth mark.
Do we have any idea when booking starts?
Debsx:woohoo:

If I can talk myself into flying again so many hours, I might consider it for our 30th Anniversary which will be in 2012. It would most likely be a one time trip. I don't enjoy flying............ now if we can cruise on over there, it might be a different story :goodvibes

For Marriott Ko Olina Beachclub Oceanfront Studio next door to DVC Aulani, mid July 2010,rate including tax is $482/night....

Based upon the current point charts for 2011 oceanfront studio villa is 29 points per night..At "average" rental value of $10 per point, thats $290 per night! Thats $192 savings per night being a DVC member..10 night vaca..$1,920 savings! Someone said there is a very small occupancy tax for week, but I'm sure not significant!

Again, point chart I think for DVC Aulani at Ko Alina, points per night I think are "reasonable" for market area!

Can't wait to 2013! Aulani I bet will be GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

We have owned a condo for several years in Ko'Olina (Kai Lani) and I am getting a nice boost towards the points I will most likely buy at Aulani. I have been renting my condo to Disney! If I thought it would have worked, I would have offered to trade for another DVC contract...at Aulani of course! The current guests are in there until at least mid November. He said that this project is particularly important to Disney and that every detail will be perfect. He is on the "team" that designs the rocks for the resort. I am so excited for this project to be completed as I already love Ko'Olina...the beaches are beautiful, but the water is usually pretty chilly. All of the "lagoons" are actually protected from the open ocean by man made reefs. The sand here is not as soft as it is at Kailua...but still gorgeous. It will be interesting to see how Ko'Olina changes over the next several years.

He designed the rocks?!?!?!?! That is some attention to detail!

We keep looking at the Princess repositioning cruises that start or end in Hawaii. That would be a nice reduction our hours aboard a plane.

We celebrated our 25th with a RCL cruise to the Med -- Rome, Athens, Egypt, Naples, Mykonos --- simply fabulous. Our 27th will be on Celebrity Solstice in the Western Caribbean. Our 30th ? Don' t know yet. Hawai seems like too big a $$ & point trip to me. Maybe a Northen Europe cruise ???
