Comparing say for example, Studio Magic Kingdom View at Bay Lake Tower to Ocean View Aulani Ko Olina for same time period, Magic Season, Summer....Bay Lake Tower, Studio MK view would be 183 points Weekly 2010

Magic Season, Ko Olina 2011 Studio Ocean View(Bet it is GORGEOUS) would be 203 Points Weekly...20 Points More/Week for HAWAII? NOT CHEAP, BUT NOT AS HIGH AS I EXPECTED!!!

WE WOULD LOVE TO GO FOR OUR 30TH ANNIVERSARY AUG OR SEPT/2013!!!! IF WE DO, I'LL SPLURGE AND DO OCEAN VIEW, STUDIO! 10-11 NIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, I BET THAT RESORT WILL BE NOTHING SHORT OF INCREDIBLE!:wizard::wizard::wizard::banana::banana::cool1::cool1:

I did not think they were to bad either. Did you notice on the bottom about a transient accomidations tax due at check-out.

I can see us doing this in a few years. Would need to burn two years of points to make the flight worth it though.

I do wonder what % each view category the resort will be.

From Newark nonstop to Honolulu, I just checked 10 1/2 hrs, return about 9 1/2! Wow, with tax, $867 Round Trip for next May, 2011!!!
Continental!

Really have to watch fares daily and jump on it when the time is right!

Oh, for 30 year Anniversary, hopefully, we'll SPLURGE!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Here's my philosophy for our 30th for 2013!!!

If we're healthy enough then and financially able, why not celebrate our "30th" in a BIG WAY! Our oldest DS will be 26 and our youngest DS will be 18 and hopefully tucked safely away in college! :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Can't wait to start looking at Aulani pics as the build out progresses!:dance3::dance3::cheer2::cheer2:

I cant wait to be there August 2012 will the year that I show up...I was hoping for a one bedroom at least, but we may have to stick with a studio!!!

Hmm the link isn't working for me..I thought it wasnt suppose to come out until the first. . maybe they pulled them?

Wow...a lot better than I thought it would be! Of course, I'm betting the sell price will sting as much as I expect.

We are planning to take my twin cousins when they graduate from hs in 4 years. Hopefully things won't shake up too much before then. Right now the time of year we would go is categorized as Choice Season and only 182 points/week for an OV. Very doable even on our small contract! :) (Assuming we will be able to reserve an OV at the 7 mo mark.)

I thought I was technically challenged and just couldn't figure it out! But, here's a "back up link" that a guy on another DVC forum posted.

Aulani Points Chart

Thanks!! I cant even find the villa floorplans that were there a few days ago!! What disney does with their website is sometimes really wonky!!

I think the big issue will be availability at the 7 month mark. We don't plan on buying in as we live on the east coast, and getting to Hawaii requires so much travel. If you are planning a trip at the 7 mo. mark, and it doesn't pan out, I think it would be so disappointing!

wow those points aren't so bad! i cannot wait! We already have WDW planned for 2011 so 2012 HERE WE COME!! :)

Not so bad? I guess it is a matter of opinion. I compare it to what I usually get at my home resorts, BWV (always get boardwalk view). and AKV (always get savanna view). Aulani is 50%+ higher for just a pool view and near 70% higher for ocean. That seems downright awful to me. And you also have to pay some occupancy tax when you go.

They haven't hit us with the price per point yet. Hard to predict how easy it will be to get at 7 months out. Moreover, that creates another issue particularly for Hawaii as to whether you more likely to miss the better discounted airfare rates to Hawaii if you can reserve only 7 months out.

This is Hawaii not WDW... apples and oranges.

MF's per point is something I would want to see along with the $/pt.

I'm impressed too at the point charts, especially given that DD's enlightened school gives her a week off in September, so we could travel in the cheap season. Hmmmmm, the 15 year anniversary is coming up in 2012...would be an incredible way to celebrate it. :goodvibes

I do not think the point charts for Aulani are bad at all. Personally, I was expecting them to be slightly higher. They are very similar to the BLT point charts.:cool1::banana:

Maybe *that's* why I don't have sticker shock?!? :rotfl2:

Actually, I just looked at airfare (plugging in this September as a go-by) and was quoted $914 for each of us on Delta. That's rough! :scared1:

However, DH made a great point that we paid over $2,000 the first time we stayed at the Poly just for accommodations and, since we won't have to pay for accommodations at Hawaii because we'd be using DVC points, the flight would basically make us about even for what we paid for vacations pre-DVC (methinks he's *really* digging the thought of going to Hawaii). :rolleyes1

:woohoo:

Try checking for fares with an LAX stayover to spend sometime in Disneyland.

Using September of this year as a check, I had it down to $700 a person on American Airlines (2 day layover in LAX on the way in and out)
