We have had a wonderful trip planned for a year now--supposed to leave next week. I have had a medical emergency and am not able to travel for a little while so we have had to cancel! We purchased the dining plan and had all our ADRs booked...what a disappointment! Anyway, we have rebooked for the last two weeks of August (free dining!!) but I am very concerned that it will be too hot to enjoy anything. We have only gone in the spring (March-April) but there is no other available time for us. We will plan again for next April but I can't wait that long for another trip. Any advice on weather and how to deal with the heat? :rolleyes2

and while it was hot :sunny: , I did not find it unbearable. I live in Michigan and we had a pretty hot and humid summer ourselves last year. If anything would be a problem it would be the humidity. There are lots of ways to cool off (drink lots of water, indoor air conditioned attractions and restaurants)and I would leave the park during the hottest part of the afternoon for a dip in your resort pool or even a nap (which I can never do :teeth: ). The parks were not crowded at all (except Saturday and Sunday - It was Labor Day weekend) so except those days we never waited more than 5 -10 minutes for anything. At Animal Kingdom we rode Kali River Rapids 3 times in a row without having to exit our raft and could have kept going but we were drenched! :rotfl2: We were cooled off then for sure! :teeth: We are going again this August 22-29th and can't wait! I'm sure you will enjoy your vacation!

Slow Down, Lots of water, go inside whenever you can to get some A/C, but the one strategy I think is most important, is get out of the parks by noon at the latest and head back to your resort. Go to the pool, rest up in the room, anything to be out of the worst part of the mid day heat. Head back to the parks later in the afternoon when it starts to cool off a little (relatively speaking), plus the crowds should start to go down as the afternoon progresses.

Most of all, have fun.

Hey #1DisFann, you stole my post :goodvibes Guess I just wasn't quick enough typing...

We were there in Aug. '05, and it was definitely HOT (no big surprise!). As long as you keep drinking water and dodging the sun whenever you can, you'll have a great time. All of the buildings are airconditioned, so you can get big relief everytime you step inside.

Some other hints: 1) bring or buy a water bottle/spray fan (my kids especially loved this!); 2) I brought a washcloth from home - at night, I would soak it, then put it in the freezer - - in the morning, I put it in a zip-loc bag and throw it in my backpack. It was a great relief during the day just to hold on your face or wrap around your neck! 3) I agree with other posters - - go to the parks early, then head to the hotel around lunch; relax then head back to the parks in the early evening. Have fun!

We go in August. The crowds are pretty light as far as summer crowds go, especially that last week. And the parks are still open late.

It is hot, but not that much hotter than the rest of the summer. In fact, the average and high temperatures in August are only one degree higher than in June. It does feel more humid in August.

Just get to the parks early and take breaks mid day by your pool.

That's a first for me! Usually I'm the slow one! :rotfl2: Anyway...Good info is worth repeating! :teeth:

Thanks so much for the advice! We were planning on afternoon breaks anyway (we do this even in March!). It gives us more energy for the evening. I feel better about the choice now--especially if the crowds are low! :thumbsup2 Thanks again!

It's hot, and just be prepared for afternoon storms too. It's really not so bad because it gives you some "forced" downtime if you aren't the type to keep trudging on in the rain. :)

I also found it to be less bearable in July. We have been to WDW in July at least 3 times and the last time we went ('04) it was in August. While it was very hot, the crowds were lighter...not as many foreign tourist groups that travel in large nos. We are going back in August again this year. I'm sure it will be great.....DO take off the afternoon time, tho. :cool1:
