August waitlists

I have been on a waitlist for August 12 - 21 since 6 months out. I knew when I booked it that the odds were low that our waitlist at BCV or BWV would come through, but I was hoping for it. I do have a room booked at OKW presently and if the waitlist doesn't come through, I won't be heartbroken, but it would be nice Anyway, is anyone else on a waitlist for August?

I was on a waiting list for Aug4-11, but i took us off. After speaking with MS a few days ago, they told me they will be making some changes with waitlists starting June 1st of this year. Anyone currently on a waitlist at that point,(and if the waitlist comes through) will automatically be switched without being contacted first to their waitlist resort. This may not be what you actually want to happen. Say, you are making plans around your current resort and now you are switched.... it may cause some issues for you. If you don't think the waitlist will come through and you want to make sure you have everthing in order, then I would take your name off before June 1st.
I feel that I really want to know for sure where I am staying in advance, so I can plan everthing out and have it finalized. Just my thoughts

We're also on a waitlist for August. We're currently booked at SSR for the 8 nights of 17-24 August, but on the waitlist for VWL for the second half of the stay. We're new to DVC and I've no idea what chance we have of the waitlist coming through for us. It won't be the end of the world if it doesn't happen, but friends are already booked into VWL and it would be nice to be together.

We're currently on the automatic waitlist. My understanding was that, at 60 days out, we would need to ring again to switch to a manual waitlist. JustineMarie, are you saying that's no longer the case?

I thought that at 30 days out you have to call members services and get your waitlist extended until 7 days before your arrival, but that was before they changed stuff. I'm honestly not sure how it works now.

I find that it seems very hard for the waitlist to happen if you waitlist for the entire stay. I did day by day waitlisting and that seems to come through more often.

I did think about doing this and after talking it over with my DH we decided that we didn't want to take the chance of having to move resorts.

Apologies, JustineMarie - I've just realised that it was sue, not you, who mentioned the potential change to the way waitlisting operates. I'm just a bit confused about precisely what those changes are supposed to be because we're already on automatic waitlisting (and for day by day).

We waitlisted the entire stay last year for July and it didn't come through. Here is some pixie dust in hopes that things work out for you. . We are also visiting in August, but we have run out of DVC points for the year and are just staying in a regular room at Wilderness Lodge. Have fun!

No need to apologize I am confused myself. We are also on the automatic waitlist now so I'm assuming that nothing will change for us come June 1st.
