This past Friday morning, I woke up and was browsing the internet looking at possibly booking a WDW vacation. I'd been on the Disney website daily over the previous few days, trying to decide what to do (I even looked late Thursday evening). Well, Friday morning at about 9:00 am, I visited the Disney site and there was a huge advertisement for this August-September Magic Your Way deal. I immediately checked it out and found great rates on some of the Deluxe resorts (I only checked the Deluxe, so I can't speak for the others). The rates at the Contemporary were far lower than any rates I had seen in the week prior to checking (they were about equivelant to a 40% pin code). So, on a whim, I went ahead and booked us for 4 nights in a Tower-BLV room at the CR (and was able to add on tix and dining).

I told a good friend about the great deal I had gotten and she inquired about more information. So a few hours after booking my vacation, I checked back on the site and that ad was gone. I plugged in all the dates and information that I had used for my own reservation and could no longer get those same rates to come up for her. I have looked several times since Friday and still, that rate seems to have only been on the website for a very short period of time.

Is this a normal thing to happen? I feel SO LUCKY that we got that deal (I've checked and double-checked the reservation to make sure it is what I think it is, and it appears to be in order) and wonder now if it isn't important to check early and often on the website for great deals that are only posted for a very short period of time. I was just wondering if anyone else got this deal and if it's common for this to happen?? It said that only a limited number of rooms was available under this promotion, but it must have been REALLY limited!

Something very similar to me happened a couple of weeks ago.. I stupidly didn't pull the trigger & when I went back to find it.. I couldn't.

Wow, that's pretty awesome and lucky for you! I have never heard of that happening but I am relatively new to the DIS and booking through Disney. Hopefully it will happen more often!

Congrats and enjoy your trip!!!:cool1:

Thanks! I'm going to keep a sharp eye out for my friend to see if it comes up again. If it does, I'll be sure to hop on to this board and post the information as soon as I see it! :cool1:

They don't change their special offers so abruptly. The same offer may just be phrased differently on different pages. Fact is, for late August-September, there are currently room discount specials. The main special offers page makes it sound like it is just values, Mon-Thurs, but if you click through... It's actually a room only discount for all hotels, all dates. (looks like it is 30 or 40% off)

I think in this case, they did change it abruptly. I have tried every possible combination since a few hours after booking my own vacation on Friday, and have not been able to secure the same rate again for my friend. I have checked every current incentive they have listed and cannot duplicate the deal I got that morning. I have heard from others that they do occasionally have very few rooms in a certain promotion and if they go quickly, so does the promotion.

Hey, I say take it and run. Good for you finding such a great deal. i hope things work out for your DF. I hope you have a magical trip.:wizard:

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Good for you!

(Oh no! Now I have another site to stalk :scared1:)

It's still there, I booked ASM yesterday. It's a room offer, but you can add tickets and dining and keep the room discount. On the main page, in the lower lefthand area, there's a box that says "Explore our Special Offers". On the next page, it's the centre discount, "Stay for just US$69 per night". It makes it look like just the values, but there are discounts for the mods and a few deluxes. Note: the dates for WL, AKL, SS and OKW start August 21, while the values and mods start August 14.

It says use booking code RRM. On Mousesavers, it says use booking code L29 or O2R.

A couple of months ago the special offers page of the Walt Disney World website was offerings the exact same room only discount for the exact same dates as they are right now, which needed to be reserved by March 27, 2011. However the earlier discount was a bit better then what's currently being offered, because we got 35% off at the Boardwalk Inn and Beach Club. Recently I checked the rates with the current offer and it seems to be that the Deluxe Resorts are now only being offered at 25% because the room we reserved at the Beach Club is a bit more expensive with this discount.

Yes, I agree. I somehow got that same discount last week. As 'Captain's Wife' mentioned, they are still offering a discount (under the special offers page), but the deal is not as good as what I was able to book. My friend is going to go ahead and take the current offer. It pays to keep a close eye!

There is limited availability for any promotional offer. So, if they have 50 standard rooms in resort X under promotion Y, it does not help if you make a reservation in advance for a standard room in resort X. in order to apply the promo, there has to be availability within the promo. And if there were few rooms to begin with, the number of rooms in the promo will be even more limited. Chances are, the type of room/resort you are looking for your friend is sold out. They probably had very limited supply under that promo and they were snatched quickly.
