Cool! Are you flying or driving? We always fly, but decided to drive this year.

I am sure we are going to love it. I told DH we are in trouble because we are not going to want to stay anywhere else after this!

We will fly. We didn't book it yet. It's so high but I guess will have to pay it.:scared1:

DW and I are heading down 6 - 16 for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We're staying at POFQ.

Some of the places we want to try this trip include:

LeCellier, Raglan Road, The Yachtsman Steakhouse, Crystal Palace and more.

We are patiently waiting for park posting to finalize our plans.

One trick I use to keep cool is to take a towel with ice and place it on top of my head (looks stupid) it brings my body temp down quite a bit.

:goodvibesMrs Grumpy we wil be at ASMO at the same time! Ill make sure I put a lime green mickey on my pool bag so if you see it say hi!
Cant wait for those park hours so I can get my days planned!

I have a question for the seasoned August travelers. I have been to Disney in early September and didn't think the heat was to bad. Do you think there is much difference in the temp from August to September? I am coming from MD where it is hot and humid in August anyway.
Harpinjean, coming from Southern MD when we went to WDW in late Aug a few years back we honestly found the weather to be pretty close to the same. A bit warmer a bit less steamy. Sprinkle in a few afternoon shows or breaks and you'll find it no problem.

My DH and I will be staying at the CBR from Aug 9-17 and I can't wait! I'm eagerly waiting for the schedule to be announced so I can get my reservations.

I've been looking at everyone's exciting plans for August and I don't see mentions of Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. I know they get mobbed on the hot August days, but I like to go at opening and ride the slides for the first two hours and when it gets crowded I bask in the infinite river and then head back to my room for a nap at around 2pm or so.

Anyone planning to visit BB or TL on those hot August days?

Stormhawk, I am going to dream a little while about your vacation and live vicariously through your plan for a day or two. It sounds like you'll have an AMAZING time!

My only feedback is that you will be traveling a lot and getting from the middle of the MK to your car and then to the Hoop Dee Doo parking (or take a boat over there) and then back to the MK for a fireworks cruise might take longer than the time allows. I know that when I run from park to park in the August heat, I get burned out quickly. Putting in a bit more nap time in some air conditioning and/or pool time at the resort might be helpful. And have you thought about a water park? Even if you don't like water slides, Typhoon Lagoon has the Disney theming and is a blast, even if you just want to rest on the lazy river and/or splash around in the amazing wave pool.

My 2 cents.

I think we will try the character in flight balloon, I loved the one at Disneyland Paris when we went on it.

What is the character in flight balloon? Details and/or links please:surfweb:

I'm sure we'll do both water parks(and disney quest) several times during our trip.

We follow the same plan. Enjoy the park from rope drop until 2, then head to the resort for a shower. After a brief rest, it's out to a major park for more fun.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have discussed a Waterpark and it may show up in the .x version of our plans. One of the main reasons for YC is the great pool area. The little one loved that the last time we stayed there. As for the mad dash for the cruise, our hop is that we'll be able to set off from WL (which I believe was one of the launch options), if not we'll definitely need to adjust the night pairing :upsidedow

Oddly we tend to be a bit commando on vacation to enjoy ourselves. Not locked in minute by minute scheudle commando, but 'you've scheduled how much' sorta thing. Usually by the end we feel like we need to get back to work/school so we can slow things down :lmao:

I want to join too!! We are going August 21-28. This is our second trip to dis as a family but our 2 yr old dd's first time. We are staying at POP. I am going to try and make ADRs at Teppan Edo,
Crystal Palace
Chef Mickeys
Whispering Canyon
Garden Grill
Sci Fi Cafe
I have a basic plan created but I am also waitng for the extended hours to be announced.

Okay, now I'm confused. I've been looking around on the boards and there seems to be some disagreement on whether EMH days at the parks make it unbearably busy.

How about being there at rope drop on an EMH morning and then when the crowds come to bail and hit another park after lunch and a nap in the room?

Are there parks where doing EMH is a good idea? AK in the evening, for example?

Is the morning after an EMH evening at a park a good time to go as some suggest?

And how does all of this matter in August?! I'm so confused and I need your help before I make my lunch and dinner reservations!

Many thanks!

We were there in a non-peak time (2/27-3/4 2008) and found that while the EMH parks did seem a bit busy at the height of the day, by evening they were pretty empty. We did evening EMH and particularly enjoyed the EMH at AK. No lines at all. MK seemed pretty empty after the fireworks as well. Epcot still had lines for the big stuff like Soarin but they were significantly shorter. A lot of the rides at HS had very short lines too after Fantasmic.

So I guess it depends on when you were going but we thought it well worth it, especially since we didn't get park hopper passes.

Of course, I wasn't in the other non EMH parks to compare the crowd levels. If you have hopper tickets I would suggest maybe trying a different park then switching over once the EMH kick in.

Our family finds early emh invaluable! There is such an advantage to be able to beat the crowd and be a step ahead, it makes up for any difference in the crowds. This is our 3rd August in a row and we have never waited more than 15 minutes for any ride with the use of fastpasses.

:wizard: We've been going in August for several years now. We plan our trip and ADRs around the EMH. We do early mornings, go back and hang around the pool in the afternoon and then do late nights. It works for us because you are at the pool at the hottest part of the day.

We are going August 19-24th. Our first trip as a family (my dh and I have been to Disney seperately).

I can't wait - our 5 year old dgtr has been begging to go and I think our 18 month old will be just as excited.

Hours come out Friday, right?

Did a late night check - no hours yet - we are so close - Come on August Hours, show yourself!

My family and i are going in aug also. It seemed on other posts that some recommended skipping EMH if you do not have park hoppers. I was wondering what the rest of you thought. Should we do EMH and stay in the park the whole time or skip those parks with EMH since we can not park hop. So far my plans are to skip them except maybe evening EMH AK.

I'll be staying in an AsMu family suite 8/16-26 with DH, DD18, DD6 and DS who will turn four on this trip!

We plan to hit all the parks and a water park one day. Trying to decide whether to send the two little ones on the pirate cruise from GF one morning and DH and I have a date night or take all of us on the Pirate and Pals cruise.

I'm hoping to get these when I call on the 18th:

Chef Mickey's Dinner
BBB, Pirate League and Cindy's on DS's b'day
Sci Fi
Ohana
Donald's Safari breakfast
Coral Reef
1900 PF breakfast
Cali Grill for 2
Akershus
Le Cellier or Le Chefs de France
The Plaza
50s Prime Time or Beaches & Cream - can't decide!

I can't wait!:cheer2:
