August planners, lets plan together!

We'll be at WL 8/15 - 8/22.
Here's our tentative list of ADR's:

'Ohana - you know, the Irish restaurant:) (Dinner)

Crystal Palace - breakfast with Pooh and friends

Princess Dining Lunch at Norway's Akershus (good thing we've got a six year old daughter or this would be weird, huh)

Brown Derby (Lunch)

Coral Reef (Lunch)

Restaurant Marrakesh (Dinner)

Boma (Dinner)

Yes, I know we have more TS than days we'll be there for FD. We're planning on paying for the Brown Derby lunch out of pocket.

I'm hoping since our stay starts a day before the FD, we can get all the ADR's in before they get slammed with people making reservations the next day.

Wishing mom - what is this fairy thing you speak of? I've never heard of it and am super interested in wanting to know more about it!!!!

Thanks,
Beth

Hi Beth,

You can meet the Disney Fairies (Tink, Silvermist, Fawn etc) I think at Toontown. It's a fairly new attraction, but apparently a very popular one. My dd loves the fairies, so I'm hoping to have a short wait time.'

Cheers

Hello guys!

We will be there 8/25-9/1. Also waiting for those park hours! Hoping to get the following ADRs:

Boma (breakfast)
Tusker House (breakfast)
Jiko (Dinner)
Crystal Palace (Lunch)
Also going to try walk-ins at Tony's and the Morrocco restaurant in Epcot.

I have bought a misting fan and cooling spray for the kids, but we will be doing mostly early mornings and then leaving the parks at lunchtime!

Let's hope for a hurricane / tropical storm free season!

Only a couple of days until we get those hours!

We'll be at CBR Aug 8-15. DS11 loves pirates and is recovering from a very tough year medically while maintaining honor roll and getting ready for middle school next year, so I have booked a Pirate room and we will be doing as much Pirate stuff as we can. I;m really excited about the new things going on this year, it's a greattime to do a pirate trip!We have the dining plan but I have never made ADR's before so I'm kind of nervous about it. I want dinner with Cindy, Le Cellier, Yak and Yeti maybe Chef Mickeys and The Lilo and Stich breakfast...too confused about all the choices!

We are driving so we can bring water and stuff with us. I can't wait!!!!! We would love to meet new friends!

I just can't wait to be there!! My husband surpirised us Easter morning with this trip. Over breakfast he suggested that we upgrade our summer Pennsylvannia vacation to Disney so we had the fastest breakfast ever and then immediately booked our trip!party:pixiedust:

After dealing with breast cancer last year I finally feel good enough to go!!!:cool1:

COngrats on feeling better...what a great thing to celebrate! Are you going to stay on the side of the 50's where you can see EPCOT?

We'll be at Pop Aug. 19th-30th. This will be our first trip with just the 3 of us. We have always gone with other family members. My DD14 is so excited it's just us.
We've been in Aug. before. Yes, it's hot hot hot. But pace yourself. Every place has AC so pop in one of the stores just to cool off.
When I was younger I worked at a local amusment park. They taught us if you keep your pulse points cooled down, the rest of you will be cool. (your wrists, ankles, and neck).
We ordered extra hand towels from Mousekeeping and we each kept one wet and placed on the back of our necks everyday. The first day my DBIL thought we looked stupid with the towels, but, on the second day and there after he and his family were doing the same thing. Within a few days many of the guests at our Resort were doing it as well.
Also, brought a change of socks and a different shirt into the parks with us. Halfway thru the day I would change my socks and shirt. You would be amazed how refreshed you feel with just that.

Warning!!!!! Don't drink the water from the fountains. It's so hot out that the fountain water is nasty and warm. We estimated we spent an extra $200 just in bottled water in the parks.

We will be there the 23rd -30th.
Our first stay at Poly! woohoo!

We plan on doing rope drops every morning and staying till lunch time. Then head back for swimming and napping. We will have dinner ADRs for most days so we will do them and then off for evening park touring.

I like the towel in with the cooler idea. We are driving so I am already stocking up on bottled water, soda, and juice to pack in coolers each day.

Cannot wait for the August hours so I can plan our days. Regardless, we always do MK first and EP second. After that it is up in the air.

I am hoping to get the following ADRs
Le Cellier
Garden Grill
Ohanas- planning on 2 breakfasts there
Chef Mickeys dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern
1900 PF
Crystal Palace

124 days till we are there! Leaving in 120!

I'm Aug. 23rd -30th Poly too! It's our 3rd stay there in 3 years. :cool1: You will love :love:it! We are also from NJ!:)

We'll be at POP 8/21-8/28. We're driving too -- seems that a lot of people are doing that this year. The airfare is outrageous from NY at that time and also my DD5 hates the ear pressure pain she gets on a plane -- so much so that she initially said she didn't want to go to Disney. :sad2:

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to utilize EMH. I'm planning on getting there for rope drop, leave for the resort in the afternoon, and return in the early evening. We don't have park hoppers, and I want to avoid crowds as much as possible. So I don't think EMH is in our plans, but I would like the advantage of staying at a park late.

The restaurants of choice for this trip:
Chef Mickey's
Whispering Canyon
Princess Storybook Breakfast
1900 Park Fare
Crystal Palace
Biergarten
T-Rex

You get free ice water from any counter service restaurant, no purchase necessary~ You can also save a bundle if you prefer bottled water and have it shipped to your hotel using Staples, Costco or garden grocer (you can get lots of other goodies from here too)

So glad your felling better God Bless you! Have a great trip!:goodvibes

WE drove for spring break for my son's first trip. We live in Langhorne. I picked up my DH from work in North Philly and we hit the road by 3:15 on a Friday. We did not take 95 until we hit Richmond VA. I can't recall what route we took, but it bypassed Baltimore and DC. We stayed in NC over night, go up and were on the road by 7 am the next morning. We were at the hotel by 5 pm that night. FLorida is longer than you think...stop for your free orange juice at the welcome center! Yum!
We didn't mind drving...we're crazy enough to do it again:) I want to do a dinner show that night...my hubby thinks I am crazy, but I plan to get up and go by 7 am on Saturday morning and get somewhere into GA if possible. It will be up to the kids and what they can handle. The transportation boards have links to driving on 95 with exit information.

Awesome thanks. My DH thinks hes gonna drive straight from Croydon to Disney then do the park all day and night with a 3 1/2 year old. He wants to leave early Sat. night and get there pretty early Sun. AM. I keep telling him hes crazy but well hes a man and thick :)
thanks for the info!!

I am also anxiously awaiting the Aug hrs... going end of Aug and have tentative plans for parks each day based on the unofficial guide.

Taking my nieces (8 and turning 12) for their first trip ever and I think I am even more excited than they are! Any time I am having a bad day, I think of riding Splash Mountain with them... or seeing their eyes light up when Fantasmic starts or when they see the first floats in Spectro....

I am hoping to get reservations for the castle breakfast and chef mickey's dinner; Am also considering 50's Prime Time and Tokyo Dining; I'm not sure if there is anything at the latter to thrill Miss Picky Eater but I looooooooove sushi. Mostly planning on counter service because I like the flexibility and think they'd prefer it, anyway.

Since I've never traveled with them, I'm going to have to revise my plans as I go after I see what works for them. I'm planning on rope drop/ back at room for swimming and relaxing/ back to parks at night. But if they want to keep going, we may cut out the trip back to the hotel some days. We are not doing water parks because I think there's plenty with the 4 parks and the hotel to keep them busy, since they've never been before.

Right now, I just want better airfares for my dates than what I've been seeing. *sigh* My fault for being picky with times and not wanting to deal with 2 excited, impatient kids on connecting flights.

And also hoping the little one makes it to 48''- I'm not sure if she would want to ride RnRC but am sure she'd pout if she couldn't. I think she was 47'' when she measured herself a few months ago...

Belle- this sounds so much like my situation, except we are just taking my boyfriend's 10 year old nephew! I am soo excited! Whenever I am having a rough day at work all I can think of how excited I am going to be getting on Magical Express with him, or to watch his face as we fly backwards on Everest! We are going August 25-31st at POP (our first time staying here or at any value), right before he goes back to school. We are just doing the theme parks, because it will be more than enough, with the first day we get there being a half day at MK and then a second day in the park of his choice after we've gone to them all! Every trip my boyfriend and I have done something a little extra special (tours) and this year I was thinking maybe the Characters In Flight for the three of us! (my boyfriend has always wanted to do a hot air balloon ride!)
Restaurants we are thinking of right now include Chef Mickeys, The Wave, Coral Reef, Raglan Road, and Mama Melrose. Can't wait for the hours to be posted!!

Cool! Are you flying or driving? We always fly, but decided to drive this year.

I am sure we are going to love it. I told DH we are in trouble because we are not going to want to stay anywhere else after this!

Another New Jersey family driving down to the Polynesian 8/23-30!!!! We've been there a few times, but took several years off and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (my true love)!

See you all soon!

:)

Lisa

We arrive at SSR on 11th August for 17 nights, day before my sons 9th birthday. 17 nights free dining, can't wait. Never been in August before. Usually have 3 weeks at Christmas which we love, this is an extra trip that my husband booked as 40th birthday present for me. Have a spreadsheet already to go as soon as park hours released. Not looking forward to being on the phone booking 17 restaurants! A little worried about the heat but going to take it easy this time (I always say that).

DH, the 3 boys and I will be staying at BWV August 22-29. We're leaving on 8/21 (DS #3's 8th birthday -

Hey - it's my DS#1's 8th birthday on 8/21 too!!! We'll be at MK that day, probably using the birthday fast passes.:thumbsup2

We'll be at CBR Aug 7-14. This is our first trip. I don't know who's more excited - me or the kids. DH is going to take some convincing that this will be fun. I'm hoping to soothe him over with a nice steak at LeCellier. I have most of my ADRs picked, but not all. I agree, too many good choices!

My dates overlap with yours... maybe we'll run into each other. :rotfl:

I was also thinking of Characters in Flight- will play it by ear. It might be fun to do that on elder niece's birthday. I'm really trying to surprise them as much as possible and hope I don't have to give too much away!

Just booked my airfare today- yayyyy! :cool1:

I think we will try the character in flight balloon, I loved the one at Disneyland Paris when we went on it. The only problem though was because of winds at altitude it was quite often tethered down when we went past, I hope this won't happen at DTD.
