August planners, lets plan together!

Yes as long as you have reservations, you can enter the park early. I like to do it over at the Crystal Palace. There is nothing like walking through the MK when it's closed.

I'm with you!! I have an 805 CP reservation on a day when MK opens at 9. I can't wait to walk down Main Street when the park is closed and get pics of the castle without a crowd!!! :cool1:

Hey! I learned something new today. I never thought of doing something like that. It must be an almost surreal experience, plus you get your own personal Magic Hours.;)

Harpinjean, coming from Southern MD when we went to WDW in late Aug a few years back we honestly found the weather to be pretty close to the same. A bit warmer a bit less steamy. Sprinkle in a few afternoon shows or breaks and you'll find it no problem.

I'll take the heat over the steam any day!!! :thumbsup2 Our Maryland summers can be brutal - you melt as soon as you walk out the door because it is so humid!

I'm so excited to have found this thread...Myself and 2 friends will be staying at Pop Century from August 20th - 26th. We are going to be taking advantage of the free DDP for the first time and the trip cannot come soon enough! :figment:

We will be there Aug 3 - 13

Here is what I have so far (sitting in a large box in bedroom)

5 ponchos
lanyards and about 100 pins for trading
T-shirts for all of us
Autograph books made
The books "Guide to the Magic" for Kids (These look fantastic for my kiddos. There is a place in the back for them to journal each day)
Fanny packs for the kids
Mini-light for DD(7) - she's afraid of the dark
Each child's favorite stuffed animal
Glow in the dark stuff
Small treats for each kid (disney gum, towels, etc....)

Still need to finish or get
Tye-dye shirts for the family (just put a big order to Dharma Inc.)
Trip planner - about 1/2 finished
Ear protection for DD(7) - she's very afraid of loud noises
Candy wrappers for the room (from very talented DISer)

Phew - that seems like a lot when you write it all down.

Give it a try. It really is quite magical.

None of us really WANT to go back to Long Island. It is just something we have to do :confused3 I hope you've made your reservations. Your dining choices look good to me.

Just realize that there probably will be no Photopass photogs on Main Street at that time so you'll have to ask a stranger for a pic of all of you in front of the castle.

We're getting closer::cool1::banana:

Who is stay at Pop between Aug 19-30th?
We're using Magical Express on our return home, but, renting a car when we arrive. Anyone else using ME during this time? We've never used it before. How easy is it?

That's very true! :(

And yes we made all of our reservations! :cool1:

Well I'm slowly moving myself along for this trip. :confused3 Usually I have a year to pack and plan, but this trip I have three months and I have to pack in secret because this trip is a surprise. The next few months are busy as well, each girl has a birthday in June and July so we have to plan that. Plus they both are going to camp this summer so they'll be busy with that. So I can't start to pack until August and we leave on the 27th.

Usually I make custom outfits for my girls by park, but since I don't have a lot of time I won't be able to do that. So after spending a day on this site I found some really cool iron-on creations. I actually went to Joanne's bought the iron-on transfer papers and two shirts. I'm going to start with a neat Mickey football shirt for DH for father's day.

How's everyone else doing on their planning? We're still working on flights - they are so expensive!!

ME is the best!!! They take care of your luggage so you don't have to. They have tv's thruout the bus and it's super comfortable. You will love it!!!

ME is very convenient. Just be prepared to be at the ME bus stop 3 hours prior to your departing flight. Have a great trip!

OK, so what little things have you done?

I've arranged for a "Fairy Godmailer" to send a postcards to my kids in the next week or so. And I've signed up for one to send in return.

I've stocked up on dollar store ponchos.

I've gotten earbuds for the Jetblue flight (at amazon.com, for $3 per pair including shipping. I know you can get them on the flight for $1, but I'm aways afraid they'll run out :) )

I've gotten my husband and son reservations for the Magic of Steam Engines tour, as a Father's Day/ birthday present. (my son's birthday is this Thursday.) I still need to write it up as a gift.

I still need to place an order with Garden Grocer.

What else?

We just tried out some fabric paint shirts last night -- they came out great! We used contact paper and cut the outline of a shape (mickey head). Stuck it to the front of the shirt and let the girls fill in the outline with paint. We used sponges to apply the paint and it worked like a charm! We're doing these for everyone in our traveling party to wear one day. I also bought some iron on transfers but am not sure what to do with them... I was thinking a Peter Pan theme for our family...

I'm looking at flights from BDL (Hartford) and while I have a good fare going down ($350 for 4), I haven't seen anything lower than $139 per person coming back. We are flying into Tampa as we have relatives there. I know there is a good possibility that I'll see a lower fare but it's frustrating waiting.

Our countdown for this trip started at 310.... now we're down to 54... and frankly, I'm tired of thinking about it!! I just want to go already!!

Off to Walmart to look for mini mister fans... shorts for the kids... etc.

Kathy
