August planners, lets plan together!

Hi everyone..

glad to find this thread..We're doing our 2nd family vacation 8/26-9/1 in Disney staying at CSR then on 9/2 we are going to Universal for 3 nights!

WE went to disney in 06 same time of year and had a GREAT time! I am not one to go back for an afternoon rest, as i'd probably never get back to the parks..last time we hit the parks about opening and usually headed back late afternoon...

this is my plan - what do you guys think....

8/26 arrival day - swim, relax, unpack dnr at Chef Mickeys..

8/27 - Hit MK for Early morning hours stay till after lunch then hit Epcot hoping for dinner at LeCellier

8/28 - Animal Kingdom - then Boma's for an early dnr - relax at hotel.

8/29 - Epcot w/lunch at Les Chefs and try to head back to resort late afternoon for a swim and eat dinner at hotel and sleep early

8/30 Disney Stuidios...this is a fantasmic night but we want to see fantasmic and though we have hoppers..i think we'll just try...crowd level for this day shows a 5? will do dnr at 50's primetime

8/31 is a 1/2 day rest day will do laundry get a massage - husband will probably go w/kids to a park for a few rides then late afternoon hit MK have dnr at Crystal palace and see Spectromagic/Wishes

9/1 - MK try for dnr at Ohana's and if we feel like hopping during the day to a different park we will..

Hope to get these restaurants...

any comments?

thanx

lisa

We are also excited to hit Universal as we've never been b4!

:upsidedowWe're going Aug 24- 30! We've done August before and love that crazy heat! But better we love those low crowds! I just booked our package and it'll be our first free dining experience! I am over the moon excited!!
Next step: car rental!:rotfl:

I knew you must be from way up north if you love that heat and sure enough Ontario :rotfl:

Wow! That's great news. I'll be there a couple of days after you. Hopefully those crowds stay low!

I am just wondering how everybody is scheduling DHS. My only choices are EMH or Fantasmic Days. Originally, I had planned to go on a Tuesday with a Fantasmic night. After reading the Fantasmic Fiasco thread, I'm not too sure about going then. :confused3

Also, I want to start brainstoriming on how to beat the heat. Was there a thread not too long ago with some strategies on how to stay cool at the parks? I thought I remembered one, but I can't seem to find it.

Ugh I had the same DHS predicament! Basically we are going for evening EMH on Wednesday then AM on Friday, hopefully it will not get too crowded after it opens to the public, if so we will head out to another park. With any luck we will be able to catch everything we REALLY wanted to see there or we'll have an excuse to go back again! :rotfl2:

Here's one thread about beating the heat: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2157024

I called this morning for ADR's and what able to get all the restaurants I wanted all within a few minutes of my target dining time! I called right at 6:00 a.m. (Central) and between being on hold and making the reservations was on the phone for a little more than an hour.

Here's our Dining Summary:
8/15 Trail's End 5:35 p.m. (actually was able to make this reservation yesterday)
8/16 'Ohana 6:15 p.m.
8/17 Crystal Palace 8:10 a.m.
8/18 Akershus Princess Lunch 11:55 a.m.
8/19 Hollywood Brown Derby 11:40 a.m.
8/20 Coral Reef 11:30 a.m.
8/20 Marrakesh 6:30 p.m.
8/21 Boma 6:00 p.m.

Now it feels real!

We are going Aug 17 - 24th. The fantasmic showings have convinced me to not even bother this year. Too much stress to try and cover it so I think we will probably not even bother unless we happen to feel that crowds are low and it won't be pandemonium trying to get a seat.....

Since this thread is basically a place for people to announce their August itineraries, I've moved it to the Doing the Happy Dance! board. :)

I'm also going in August... the 16th through the 22nd.
I made my Reservations this morning and spent over an hour on the phone. I wasn't able to get my first choices...La Cellier or Ohana. Oh well!

We are first time WDW vacationing and I have a question. What is the Fantasmic?

Thanks!
Christie

I'm with you on this! My kids and dh said they don't need to see it again since we saw it last August. My 9 year old said she would rather do the rides.

Lisaross - looks like we have the same travel dates. We are arriving late afternoon on 8/26/09 and leaving early evening on 9/1/09. There'll be 4 in our group - a good friend and her grandniece who is 6 and my DD who is 8.

I haven't been to WDW since the mid-1980's (before DHS and AK) so I'm anxious to see them AND make sure my 8-year old DD has a great first trip to WDW!

Any insights on what the crowds are supposed to be like during that time period? We have PH tickets so we'll probably move around all the parks and take some midday breaks back at the hotel, eating either TS breakfasts or dinners (with an emphasis on several character meals).

Thanks!

We'll be at POP from Aug. 3-7. Never stayed at Pop before so I'm a little nervous not being on the monorail. I also hope I can get some ADR's since I know we're a little late in the game. Since we just went last August, I would like to try different restaurants and not so many character meals. Very sad to hear that Space Mountain will be closed. We were looking forward to that! Subscribing!

This is our first time going with Disney Dining and only our 2nd trip as a family to WDW. This is how our TA made our ADR's (I was too nervous to do this by myself and she can use that new online ADR), the only thing is that Mama Melroses didn't show up with the Dinner Package, I can't decide to be upset about that or not. Have read about Fantasmic Fiasco!!!!
Arriving 8/15...might add on room ressie and tix or might stay offsite-BBB with DD4
8/16 Lunch at PSD
8/17 AK late with 2 CS and EMH
8/18 Breakfast Chef Mickey's and Dinner at LTT ( I know no characters but maybe just maybe)
8/19 Dinner at Garden Grill
8/20 Dinner at Mama Melrose (PIXIE DUST for 10 show)
8/21 Dinner at Le Cellier

Pretty busy week, 8/22 is our 11th wedding anniversary we'll be spending it in the car and back to school for our DS8 on 8/24.

I'm usually pretty good about figuring out abbreviations, but what is PSD?

We'll be at OKW from August 2nd - 9th (anyone else?!) with mom and my cousin then me and my DF are staying at ASMo for an extra night (10th), hoping to add a second night shortly. Here's our plan/ADR's!

Aug 3rd - MK - CRT @ 5:50pm
Aug 4th - Epcot - Tutto @ 6:00pm
Aug 5th - DHS -Sci-Fi @ 7:35pm
Aug 6th - AK/Boardwalk - Cape May Cafe @ 7:00pm
Aug 7th - "Free Day"/Epcot - Chef Mickey's @ 10:30am / GF Photopass Photo Session @ 12:30pm :bride: / GF Tea @ 2:10pm / Rose & Crown @ 7:00pm
Aug 8th - MK - Ohana @ 7:00pm
Aug 9th - MK - Whispering Canyon Cafe @ 7:00pm

Less than 2½ months to go now! :dance3:

Hi everyone! SO exciting to hear all the plans of people going around the same time as us! I'm making my ADRs in a couple days, but now I'm beginning to second guess myself on what day is the correct day to call... we arrive at Disney on August 21... Do I call on the 22 or the 23rd?

...Don't mind me, I'm the English major that had to take Math 101 three times! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I just booked a vacation for 8/4-8/11 and I am way behind the 90 day mark for making ADR's. This was a last minute decision based on a discount code we received. I was scared that nothing would be left. Boy was I wrong. I am having NO problems getting whatever dining ressie I want. Even the Disney employees had me worried, saying "you better get going on those dining reservations". I don't know what they're talking about. Soooooo, I'm hoping all this means that it will not be crowded during my time there. So far, August looks great!!

I'm wondering if part of this could be because your trip is before the Free Dining promotion starts?

You're probably right and that's probably why they offered me free park tickets and free dining for all 4 of my kids. They want more people to go early August. Works for me!!!

As they are known to say here in Minnesota: heckuva deal!
