WHAT is going on in August? The car rental rates seem astronomical :scared1:. Does anyone have a coupon that goes beyond 6/30/10? Everything that is out there right now seems to expire before I need a rental car- which, admittedly, I might not need if DH doesn't come with us in August...but still!

I looked 1 month ago for our Aug trip. I wasn't sure of our dates so I didn't book it. It would have been 205.00. from Alamo with the visa code and a car class upgrade. The dates were Aug 23 to Sept 2. now :confused3 419.00:confused3. I guess I'll keep waiting.

Try Budget using BCD Number x474200 (travelocity code for public use) and ecoupon MUWZ023 for $25.00 off. The total for a week in August is $253.80 after $25.00 ecoupon is applied at checkout for a midsize or minivan for same price.

Hey! Thanks. I did this and it worked. Now it is a little bit more than I had priced it out for 2 weeks ago. It was 214 plus taxes so 304 for a midsize. The minivans were much more. The best part was I didn't have to pay!!! I don't have to pay until we pick it up. Thanks a lot!

I got a good price with this code, but when does the coupon savings come off? I got my final price with the BCD applied then it wanted all of my credit card info. So do they charge me now?? Can I cancel if I find a better deal? :confused3

boy am I glad I booked the mid size with alamo back in March for our August 14th trip. I am paying 137. with taxex and everything for a week with $30 entertainment coupon and company code 7015135. As soon as I see a price below 150, I always reserve it because there is never a penalty for cancelling.

You can book through the budget link from Costco website and there is no need to give credit card info to book. The $25.00 coupon will be taken off the final bill when you return the vehicle.

Yeah I got a great rate for a mini van thru budget using the travel o city code and entertainment coupon for 7/31 -8/7 $238 before $30 coupon

Keep checking rates. It takes time. When you see a rate you like book- there is no charge for that. Then keep checking and if you find a lower rate, cancel old reservation and rebook with new lower rate. Last Sunday I booked a full size car thru Alamo for 12 days in Phoenix. Rate was $275. I was happy with this...this is with Costco code and 30 off weekly rental. Yesterday I checked...after booking/canceling as of this morning I am down to $247...rate dropped $3-4 at a time yesterday. My trip starts next week so that might be why the drop...but I have saved $28 over the past week.

People don't seem to realize finding a good car deal takes time. It takes time using the different codes/coupon combos. I check maybe once a week (just takes a couple minutes to see what is going on). Rates actually went up several times and I went from Budget to Thrifty to Alamo. I chose Alamo because of lower rate, larger car and free second driver. I only use codes I qualify for and even if it is e-coupon I print out screen so I have just in case. I will carry Costco card too since 2 years ago in Phoenix I was asked for card. That is a big YMMV on being asked for ID, but if you don't have they don't have to honor rate.

I'd just keep checking...book what is low now and then keep checking. Two years ago in September in Orlando we had a full-size with Alamo for under $120 for 8 days. The rate dropped the week before.

ONLY THING IS TO CANCEL RESERVATIONS THAT YOU ARE NOT USING~

Since posting this the rate dropped another $6 in a few hours. Yes, I could check once a day but who knows it might go up and I might miss the few dollars savings!

Hey, thanks! You saved me a lot of money on a van rental in New Hampshire this summer. I knew if I came to the Transportation board, I could get some good help, Disney or not. :thumbsup2

Try AVIS with a Southwest Rapid Rewards code. You do not have to be a rapid rewards member to use the code.

Just drop it in when making the reservation and POOF - 40% discount!

It expires soon but they must be extending it because I just used it to book our car for our post Thanksgiving trip.

Try this new website called autoslash.com. They supposedly guarantee to find you the lowest rate by dynamically applying coupons and tracking the price over time. I've had good success there. Hope this helps.

You got a great price. I just checked for six days beginning on August 15h and at Alamo it was $500 something. I'll use Disney transportation before I pay that crazy price.

Just rented a mini van from Budget for August 20 thru 29th for $414, using codes shown above. Without codes $985. Thank you so much.

I don't understand the hows and whys of car rental pricing. But we just looked at Alamo for June and it was 470 for a compact car. Dollar is giving us 208 for a mid size or better. I don't get it.

For my trip to WDW last week, I rented a compact from Alamo - four days for $110 total. I couldn't believe it when I checked last night and it was $500 something for six days in August. My son just reminded me that we really don't even need a rental car because we are staying at the Poly and we will use the monorail for Epcot and MK. I totally forgot about that as this will be our first time staying deluxe!

Enterprise is having a sale on convertibles in august. I just booked with code
esnr9ep for a amazing 225.00 per week, This is for a reservation beginning on
8/18.
