August and animals at AKL

We are planing a trip for 8/05. We would love to split our trip and spend a couple of days at the AKl. But are the animals active the last week of August?

I was at the AKL Arusha Savanna on the 5th floor last Sept. Aug and Sept in Florida a pretty much the same...hot and humid. The animals were out and about. However, they more or less just lazily graze around the savannah. Very enjoyable

These are African animals and accustomed to the heat and climate for the most part. Like all animals (even those that live in the wild in the Southeast) they have two major movement and feeding times. Those times are in the morning and afternoon. The morniong bewing the most active in summer. The movements are somewhat controlled as to feeding as caretakers provide food at locations that are conducive to viewing. You will see many grazing animals such as Zebras, Giraffes and Antalope easily. Elephants can also be seen almost at any time. Primates in the park are seemingly much smarter than we are as they lay low in peek heat times and are often hard to view. Big cats are also lounging in shade and rocky outcrops and may be hard to see. Overall many animals are easily seen and you are encouraged to go to the park very early. The park is small and can be toured with a break in the middle of the day and a trip to the water parks done later in the day.

We've stayed at AKL during August and the animals were all out. I especially loved going our on the balcony at night, very peaceful. As others have said the heat is no big deal for animals. The AKL is a beautiful resort, hope you like it as much as we do!

We have stayed the last week of July - very hot !
The animals were out and about all day and night. It was wonderful. They didn't even seem to mind the rain, and neither did we from our balcony.

We just went in May. By our last day (mid 90's) they were no where to be seen. I give them the benefit that it was unusual weather and they didn't have time to slowly prepare for it (as with us humans) but I missed seeing them. I would think by end of August the heat wouldn't be anything that would bother them.
