Welcome Aboard!

Just checking back in to say "hello" to everyone. It's fun to be thinking about the trip, but I will be happy when August 9th THIS YEAR rolls around so we can say "it's less than a year away" ! ;) We've been starting to think about airfare - at this point I think we're going to fly to Vancouver . Gave some thought to the whole Seattle thing, but it seems like a lot of work. Just got back from Disneyland the other day - so fun to see the "original" since we are used to WDW. Happy Spring everyone! Karen

We are probably going to fly into Vancouver also... since I have to return to work the very next day we get off the cruise, I think getting to the airport in Vancouver will be an easier task the day we get off the cruise. I just hate having to pay almost $200 a ticket more over the Seattle rate.... per person...

I did just put insurance on our cruise... you never know when a volcano is going to erupt, and I lived in Spokane when Mt. St. Helens erupted.... It was an ash nightmare!!!!

We're planning on using airline miles for free tickets. Now it's just a matter of finding open seats when they become available. If we can't get seats to Vancouver we'll have to go to Seattle. That's the problem with planning so far out - you have to wait for the seats to be released.

What airline are you thinking of using? I'll have to see if USAir flies to Vancouver from PHL and hopefully we'll be able to use miles as well.

I think it's Continental (but really Air Canada using Continental points).

I haven't even started searching for airfares yet.. we do have miles on United, so I am planning on using some of them.. where United flies is where we go and then take a train or cab or?? to the boat..

United flies into Seattle and you can take a train or bur to Vancouver. Or course if you fly here a day or two early, we can show you a few places.

I haven't been posting over here too much but I have been reading. We're only 19 weeks and 5 days away from our next cruise so I've been posting over on that meet thread a lot. I am very excited for this cruise though because it will be the first Disney Cruise for my parent's and twin sister!

Hope all is well with everyone! :)

Will be flying from the east coast, just not sure what airline, if into vancoure direct, or seatle or San Fran first.

Hope to visit west coast after the cruise, but depends on coast, Three weeks from home it be expensive.

I wonder what the chances are of DCL running busses from Seattle to Vancouver? I would bet a lot of people will be flying into Seattle.

I wonder what the chances are of DCL running busses from Seattle to Vancouver? I would bet a lot of people will be flying into Seattle.

Today, I researched flying into Seattle on a Sunday (purchasing one way tickets) and then buying one way tickets from Vancouver to home. That saves almost $300.00 for the ticket purchase. Since DD really wants to explore Seattle, we may do that.... (I'm so not sure about anything though.....)

I called DCL today to inquire about transfers and a 1 night hotel stay in Vancouver before the cruise. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the transfers are $69.00 pp (same as in Florida) and will be a 3 way transfer - airport to hotel, hotel to pier and pier to airport. I also booked a 1 night stay (Monday, Aug. 8th) at the Fairmont Waterfront hotel in Vancouver through DCL for $325.00. The best price I could get on the hotel site was $383. These can both be canceled prior to final payment and did not require any further deposit at the time of booking, so why not???

I also inquired about airfare from Boston and the DCL quote seemed pretty high - over $800.00 pp, so I passed on that for now. I am HOPING  that I will be able to do much better than that myself, when the air is released in September.

Hope everyone is well - enjoy the summer!

Karen
