August 7th, 2010 Mediterranean Cruise

Your weight restrictions should be the same they were coming over as long as it is the same carrier. I believe the 44lbs is just if you fly a carrier that is based out of here. My mom is coming from the states to go on the cruise with us, she is flying continental to get to our house in England and her weight restriction is 2 bags @ 50 lbs each. But when she does Easyjet to Barcelona with us she will only get the one bag at 44 lbs.
Have a good day :)

Ok. That clarifies my question. Whew! I hope it's warmer where we are going, because it's about 60 F here.

Is this really summer in California?

Easyjet sounds like AirTran. They offer nothing even for a crosscountry flight. Just used them in June and going to use them again Saturday all for the cheap fare. Using British Airways for DC to Barcelona next week.

So, now I am curious. If you have a connection in Europe but originate your flight in the US - you are ok with 2 bags at 50 lbs each. If you stop in England and then leave on another day to go to Barcelona; you are subject to the Europe rules of 44 lbs? And on the way back to the US - leaving Barcelona - same thing applies if going directly to the US - 2 bags at 50 lbs each? Am I correct?

And I have not packed anything yet.... :)

That's ok. My DH has packed yet either. He is still trying to figure out what he wants to take

He has seen me working late at night in addition to researching and planning our Med Cruise.

Don't forget your passport and ID!

I would hate to give you the wrong advice, I would check with your airline. Is it the same carrier?

I also wanted to add, I edited my post about my moms 2 bags she was allowed, it was only one free bag, she had to pay $50 for the second.
Good Luck :)

it is NOT the same restrictions across europe - it still varies by airline - air france and lufthansa are both 50lbs per bag checked - one checked for free - it is the econoical airlines (easyjet, ryanair, etc) where you have to really keep an eye on it here in europe...

but my understanding, if you are departing on a diff day than you arrived - it's not considered a connection, rather another leg of your trip, and you would be subject to local rules and regs - check with your carrier to be sure.

We are flying British Airways too. When are you flying? We are going Boston to London to Barcelona on Wednesday/Thursday.

Just popping in to say see you on 7th, we leave on Friday for the 8 night cruise which is the first part of our B2B.

Hope everyone gets their packing and preparations sorted soon :)

:sad2:

I spent two hours yesterday morning purchasing Travel Guard Platinum insurance. I had so many questions for the agent, because I want to make sure that I purchased the correct travel insurance for our trip. I finally accomplished it. Whew! One more thing checked off.

Throughout the entire yesterday, my DD7 was acting funny. She kept telling me that she was cold and she was starting to be clingy. Well, she came down with a fever last night and I came down with a migraine headache. AHHHH!

Both DD's cried and thought that they would have to miss the cruise. I am crossing my fingers that we don't miss our long awaited vacation.:sad2::sad1:

Our friends have landed in London. They will be going to stay for 2 days there and will off to France by this weekend. Then, meet us all at the Chocolate Factory for the children's class.

Please think happy thoughts for us. We don't want to miss this! I am jealous that some of you will be leaving this weekend.

See you all soon!

if it makes you feel better, we don't leave until a week from friday :).... but we have a lot less distance to cover, too.....

btw - still have nothing actually "packed"

On a good note, though, DS1's sandals arrived in plenty of time, from zappos. YAY! Little dude now has *ack* two pairs of shoes to wear on the cruise :) LOL. Can you tell I don't really expect him to be in shoes much at all?

Getting SO close! SO excited! :)

That's great news! I am glad it arrived before your trip.

WE were having a hard time with the costs for the tours as well, and went on-line (as reccomended by cruisers of the May Cruise) and were able to get private tours for much less. (We are paying Apprx $600 for 4 of us for all day, including admissions and no line's, plus time to shop and eat on our own.) About $400.00 cheaper than Disney tours and it's more flexible. There were cheaper options too, but For Rome we want to try and see it all :)

Thanks to you and everyone! It's actually working, my daughter's fever broke, and my migraine slowly disappeared. Whew! We were all panicking. Now, back to packing.

I have a clothing question, I have white pants (cotton) which I love, because it goes with 5 tops and my black sandals. So, that's 5 dinner attires for me. Is it crazy to wear it at night? Will I be too hot? Or should I just stick with white shorts and black shorts to mix and match with these 5 tops.

Thanks for any advice for those who travelled in the med before.

Not crazy at all. While the Med is often lovely and warm our climate in Europe is less reliable and consistant than some other parts of the world, for example O know that when I have been to Florida in August it may rain but the temperature is consistently high. You may find it varies more here. I would take them and then you can throw them into the mix on the less hot nights. Besides, I always found that the dining rooms onboard have the air con set to quite a cool setting.

Glad that the migraine and fever are showing signs of disappearing.
