I was just granted permission from the little Prince and Princess to finish my report. I have a feeling they don't want me to be on here tonight! Ulterior motives with those two...always.
The disembarkation process was a little confusing at first. We had already decided to say our goodbyes at dinner, and not go to breakfast in the dining room.
Each stateroom was issued colored tags (as always) and also a sticker to wear on your shirt....letting everyone know what time you are allowed to disembark. They were trying to avoid having lines wrapped around Deck 4 like they did after the Repo cruise.
People who had an early flight out of LAX could go to Guest Services, show their flight schedule and get White Mickey tags and stickers.....allowing them to get off the ship as soon as it docked. Somewhere in the area of 8:00-8:30.
Also, concierge guests could get the special stickers, too.
If it had been just Jay and the kids and I, we would have gone to breakfast and waited our turn, as our flight out of Long Beach wasn't until 12:30. But I was worried about the lines getting longer later in the morning, and my Mom having to stand all that time. So we got the Mickey stickers. We met in our stateroom at 8:45, and headed downstairs, out onto Deck 4....and reached customs. We waited in line to pass customs for maybe 10 to 15 minutes, and then proceeded down the escalator where we were greeted by the porters. I found the youngest, strongest looking one I could find! We had 8 bags....and all very heavy.
We had no trouble at all finding our bags....they were in the exact room we were told they would be....we stepped outside, and Super Shuttle was ready and waiting. I nearly cried going over the bridge and watching the ship fade in the distance.
Early that morning, I had watched a new batch of crew members get on the ship. Wish I could have figured out how to get in line with them!
I also got to watch them lower the gangplanks....they were on the roof of the terminal building, they move them over toward the ship, then lower them down into place. Fascinating!
Heavy bags....yep....had to do some quick re-arranging at the airport. I had one that weighed over 50 lbs.
We all agreed that if you have to sit at an airport for a couple of hours, it's nice to do it at a really small one, where you can go inside, or wait outside and not worry about missing your flight....and going through x-ray only took 30 seconds.
