August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

In room 6067 there will be me, Brian(41), Margie(40), Rachel(6), and Shane(4).
In room 6069 there will be my parents Alfred(77), Barbara(73), Cheyenne(13), and Montanna(10).

Room 6067 would like to deliver on Thursday anytime.
Room 6069 would like to deliver on Tuesday at anytime.
Are those times still open?

I have Tuesday Wed and Friday for an anytime delivery right now. Let me know, I will put the one in for Tuesday, let me know on the other. I'm trying to keep the deliveries even 3 on port days, 4 on sea days, and until those are full, we wont be adding anymore on unless we get more people joining in.

Sharon, can you post a new summary of the FE? Like how many cabins are currently involved. I'm getting lost trying to keep up......

It looks like 24 families at this point. I still have not heard back from jmchone, I sent pm's but have not rec'd any response. I'm guessing by the Aug date, if we still haven't heard anything from them, that they changed their minds, but I have left them on in case they only check in closer to the cruise. Beside those with gty, I think I just need one more cabin number. Hopefully I will hear back from that family soon. I try to delete the previous list from earlier posts with the page and post # where the new list is left in the old post. If I didn't delete the old list, I would spend most of my day updating 5 different lists.

Thanks for the update!!! I just ordered all my stuff from oriental trading, and am making something. I'm hoping the cabin numbers come in quickly, as that will help me get these in order!!!!

My TA called about the fuel surcharge. Yes we paid it (we booked 9/08), yes we get it back as OBC... Do the math... 200 for rebooking, 150 from AAA, 133 FS refund... cha-ching!

I vote first round on Michele!!!!!

We are looking at heading off to Loterie farms for the ziplining adventure and thinking about SNUBA at St. Thomas or St. John. Has anyone done these before? Any recommendations? We're not big into shopping, although if DH wants to buy me a hunk of jewlery, he is more than welcome... :-)

We're considering Loterie Farm too. We've done zip lines before and had a great time! I've read mixed reviews about the ones at LF though. :confused3

Also, someone on cruise critic recently tried to pre-book through one of the independant excursion sites and found all Loterie Farm trips had been removed. When they asked why they got this response back:

"Unfortunately Loterie Farm, have recently undertaken to only take Cruise Lines bookings, or persons making their own way to the farm if staying on island.

They are no longer accepting online reservations, which is a great shame for our clients, but something we are unable to prevent despite our obvious dissapointment at this decision."

My guess is that if you show up and don't mention you're on a cruise, they'll happily accomodate you. Just something to be aware of.

It seems the cruise lines are trying to get exclusive deals with a lot of the providers they use. I've read about similar things happening with some of the dolphin swims on other islands. :(

We've done snuba before, but not in St Thomas.
I'd say reactions were mixed (we were a group of 6)

DH, who has scuba aspirations, loved it. :thumbsup2
I was OK with it, but certainly didn't love it.
Of course swimming with fish has never been high on my list of must do experiences. :fish:
DD10, a very good swimmer and champion snorkeler, hated it.
I think everyone else enjoyed it and would say they were glad they went.
DH is the only one who wants to go again though.

We will take anytime on Wednesday

I think everyone (including myself) is still tired from this past weekend!!! I still need a nap!

If you are involved in the FE please pm me or post the info about when you are leaving for the trip. We are posting the final list Aug 9th, but if any changes come in before that, I'd like to be able to notify you by pm, or a general post. My family is leaving at 4pm on the 26th, and I won't have a computer with me to check my email after that time. Please notify me as soon as you can onboard, cabin 7022, if you change your cabin either by getting an upgrade at port or something that happens after the early part of the 26th(don't know how much time I will have that day to check the computer). I will get a note out to the group, but please notify me as early as you can(before 5pm), since we will be making the first FE delivery. Sorry for all the emails lately, but I am an overly organized planner. :rotfl:

I try to tack on the fish at the top of any post concerning the FE group so it will catch your attention quicker, I will continue to do that with any late updates

Thanks for all the work. I will be leaving for CSR on 8/18/09 but should have (free) internet access again when I move over to BLT on 8/23/09. I'll be sure to check in before we leave for the ship.

Anyone interested in making the trip to St. John's with us?

TVEPFOX - We're planning to make the trip to St. John on our own too, so let's go together. Check out the link Bellelinus posted - it had some good info about getting there. Sounds like we can do it pretty easily on our own and it will be beautiful! We'll need to decide on whether to take the taxi for $10 a person or the local bus for $2 a person. Someone said it's not hard to find the bus - a leisurely 15 minute walk to the KMart/Wendy's where there's a bus stop. Otherwise, sounds like the taxis will be waiting for us right where we get off the ship. I've printed directions and ferry schedules and we can talk more about it when we meet.

We plan to go to St. John this trip no matter what. Lol. Been to St. Thomas at least 3 times on a cruise and even stayed in St. Thomas at a timeshare for a whole week and never made it over to St. John.

Haven't decided how to get over there yet. So, if anyone is definitely going over there, let us know! Depending on what time we get off the ship, we will probably catch a taxi or the $2 bus over to Red Hook. But I was thinking of taking the ferry back to to town instead of Red Hook. Afternoon traffic is horrible - and once over all those hills is enough. :goodvibes

Did we ever come up with a name for our DIS group for this cruise? I'm working on my fish extender gifts and thought I'd be nice to put our group name on it. It seems like End of Summer Cruisers or something like that was mentioned once. I guess I can go look back but thought maybe someone would remember. Thanks

We're staying at the Radisson for two nights before we sail. I called them a few days ago to reserve the shuttle. The 10:00 and 10:30 shuttles were both full. They were offering 11:00 through 2:00. Being the good DIS-er that I am, I'm not waiting for the 11:00 shuttle. We'll have a Budget rental car so we'll just take the Budget shuttle instead. We got a shuttle ride from Budget the first time we cruised and it was fine - so I guess that's what we'll do.

Just wanted to let everyone know in case you were planning to stay at Radisson and hadn't yet reserved the shuttle.

By the way, is 10:00 the earliest we can arrive at port? Should we get there any earlier?
