August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Luck for us cruiser they line up at the cruise ship dock in droves!

I've never seen them, I think the ones you've described are usually used for excursions both through the ships or privately booked. Almost all public safari taxis are the pick up ones.

Like you said, maybe different ones pick up passengers at the airport. We're on a cruise ship. :thumbsup2

Yes, excursions and private tours use them. So can us common folks. :rotfl:

This girl knows how to hail a taxi even in a foreign country. ;)

Okay, I admit it when I'm wrong.

DH is reading the boards this morning, (thinks we're all crazy). He asks me why our signature only says our 6th cruise? Duh, this will be our 7th cruise in 7 years. OMG the $$$$$ our family has given Captian Mickey. I think I own a section of that boat by now! With my luck it will be on the poop deck!

Thanks so much for doing the FE list, Sharon! Am I imagining this or was someone highlighting the participating cabins on deck plans??? I can do it either way, of course, but the deck plan would be handy.

I am, I will get it posted again this week. Sharon, is it the same as last time? Then I can get it up asap.

Girl scout camping trip down, now to get packed for the cruise! We are planning on going to Coral World in St Thomas. Still trying to decide if we do it on our own or do it through Disney. I say on our own, DH says Disney. Any opinions for us? I was supposed to look more into the Sea Lion encounter they have there (not a swim) but haven't completed that either and it is getting close!!!

If you do Coral World on your own, we may consider following you if that's ok. I'm still so undecided, but am nervous to go off with my kids alone. I'm sure by the time we're there I'll know what we're doing... because then the kids will know, and they'll have a vote. :lmao:

This was originally posted by Cinderella and someone recently asked for this.. so here it is:

I just checked to see what the movies are for Aug 15 and right now the movies on board are:

Bolt 3D
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Race to Witch Mountain
Earth
Up 3D
The Proposal
G Force

and I have a question - I'm having a hard time finding the time and location for our original meet - can anyone post it again? :wizard:

Thanks in advance for the deck plans:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My personal advice is that you will always save a lot of money and gain a lot of freedom from doing excursions on your own versus through DCL . . . you decide when to go and come back, the taxis are right there to take you and bring you back, and it's inexpensive. I've not done Coral World specifically, but if you go on cruise critic and look at the St. Thomas port message board you will see lots of information from those who have.

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes How did I miss that before?

I thought our meet was 3 PM on deck 9, but someone else had better confirm . . .

I found a picture of a safari taxi online. They're everywhere in St. Thomas. You can see how large they are. It's not like riding in the back of a pickup truck to the drive-in. I would not let children sit near the "doors". They should be seated between adults, just like the tram on CC.

Hi TVEPFOX

Pretty Ironic you posted this photo. This looks like the exact taxi my brother was in. He sent us a photo of his family in one of these. He said it was great in St Thomas. Are they all painted like this ? Looking at the photo it looks identical. Cant post the photo with his family not cool. He was not on a cruise .

Can't wait to get docs in my anxious little hands!!!

We're supposed to have a postcard arriving soon from someone on an earlier cruise. Debating on letting it be the announcement to my kids when it arrives or bringing it with me in the car to hand them as we get close. I've made it this long...

I am so impressed! I would have blown the secret a long time ago!

Actually the taxis at the airport are airconditioned vans. :goodvibes It's the general taxis that I've seen around town that are the bedded pickups. I've also seen them lined up at Havensight, which is where we should dock.

I totally agree with the other gals. If you can do something cheaper than DCL go for it. We took DD to Coral World a few years ago using DCL before we knew better. She loved looking at the fish underwater. IMHO it's not a full day trip. You could always head to the beach afterwards. There's a nice marina nearby for food. Coral World has a resturant that serves typical stuff like burgers and dogs.

Starting to pack DH clothes. Save the best for last *cough*, *cough*.

Do they make garanimals for grown men?

I'm considering putting his outfits in plastic bags like I do for DD and labeling them with the days!!!!

TEVEPFOX - I'm dying. :lmao:

I should probably remind DH that he cannot just bring ratty shorts and tees for the whole week.... ;)

Same list from back on page 86, no new updates since then, so your list should be good!

As per a suggestion from someone who searched through a lot of pages for the last list, I have added a link to the final list into my signature, hope this is helpful!
