August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

If you do Coral World on your own, we may consider following you if that's ok. I'm still so undecided, but am nervous to go off with my kids alone. I'm sure by the time we're there I'll know what we're doing... because then the kids will know, and they'll have a vote. :lmao:

I'll let you know when we are leaving the ship (still have to figure that out). It might be real early to beat the excursion there.

Thanks in advance for the deck plans:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My personal advice is that you will always save a lot of money and gain a lot of freedom from doing excursions on your own versus through DCL . . . you decide when to go and come back, the taxis are right there to take you and bring you back, and it's inexpensive. I've not done Coral World specifically, but if you go on cruise critic and look at the St. Thomas port message board you will see lots of information from those who have.

It looks like the will only be a bit less expensive (thus why we were hesitating) but we would like the freedom to leave and the Disney trip looks full. Thanks for mentioning cruise critic, it has been helpful to help figure this out.

FYI......

The retro bracelets were ordered last week. They should be arriving to me by the end of this week. I still have youth sizes available. I am clean out of adult sizes.

As for the cost. This is still undetermined since we have late comers still requesting youth sizes. Currently if my math is correct we are about 1.25 per bracelet. With an error margin of 0.03. Payment can be made in the form of cash or alcoholic beverages :lmao::lmao: Once I have the final final count (Texas people still keep requesting:confused3) I will post how many extra youths we have. I figured we could have all the DW's in a wet T shirt contest :banana: and the winner gets to keep them all.

We need to discuss a meeting place. I think by the Goofy pool would be the best. Since I am not a 10 time DCL cruiser I have no idea about what time would be good. I will or should be at the port by 11:30 or 12:00

Are we still having our group meet at 3pm next to the Goofy pool? Can we pick up the bracelets then? Thanks for doing this :) I'll just have to remember to bring some cash. Once on the boat there is really no need for cash except room service tips and on shore excursions. :)

We'll hold you to that 0.03!:lmao:

I'm going to look so good wearing all those bracelets!!!:cool1:

3pm was the Magical Meeting Hour for Mickey's So Long Summer Cruise. Look for the guy sitting by the Goofy pool looking Goofy wearing 200 bracelets.

Oh no :scared1: ..I hope that #1 hurricane stays far, far away from our cruise itinerary

Those St. Thomas taxis are the craziest vehicles I've ever seen..I hope they don't take the turns too fast :drive:. I could just see me flying out the side..:scared:

For those of you that have been to Meghan's Bay in St. Thomas, do you think morning or afternoon is a better time to go? Also, do they have places to get food within walking distance of the beach? popcorn::
Do they have a lot of taxis near the beach to take you back to town or the port?

:woohoo: Are you all getting excited? Only 19 more days... :woohoo:

Starting to pack DH clothes. Save the best for last *cough*, *cough*.

Do they make garanimals for grown men?

I'm considering putting his outfits in plastic bags like I do for DD and labeling them with the days!!!!

:rotfl:I do this for my kids, maybe I should do it for my dh too! I have often asked the same question about the garanimals for men after sending him back up the stairs for the third time trying to make an outfit match when we are going out!!

Look at the taxi's this way... we're on an adventure.

We're going to Meghan's Bay. IN THE MORNING. It will get busier in the afternoon. Last time we were the only ones on the beach for almost an hour. It was amazing!

Yes, there's a restaurant right on the beach.

Yes, the taxi's sit in a shady area waiting for us sunburned tourists.

Somewhere I posted about a group trip, join us.

the first time we cruised disney there were 2 hurricanes we sailed right between them beautiful days no rain nothing the nights were rocky rain and such but not till later so no late nights on deck but plenty to do inside. we were really worried but it was great they did a great job navigating them it almost felt like they were not there at all

First lesson, this is not a hurricane! That's the good news.

Second lesson, it could become one, MAYBE.

As of 7:43 this morning it was a mass of showers and thunderstorms off the Cape Verde islands. The storms in the system were getting weaker, however it has a 30 to 50% (medium) chance of developing into a tropical depression during the next 24 to 48 hours over the Atlantic. It's moving west at 10 to 15 mph. It's got a long distance to travel and a lot of speed to gain, 74 mph is a category one hurricane. With that said, there's plenty of open, warm water to grow this thing.

I'm brutally honest when I do these posts. I'll tell it like it is. I've been doing this for 14 years. If the storm is given a name by the National Hurricane Center I'll track it three times a day on this board, morning, noon and night. Let's hope for a smooth cruise.

Edit: I wanted to add one thing. The Weather Channel will go nutts with this stuff because it's the first "major" development in the Atlantic for the 2009 season and they've had nothing to talk about. It's called a slow day in the news business. Do not pay attention to Alexander Steele (that's not her real name), she used to lust after my DH!

I just checked to see what the movies are for Aug 22 and right now the movies on board are:

G-Force 3D
Up 3D
Bolt 3D
Race to Witch Mountain
Hannah Montana the Movie
Earth
The Proposal
Confessions of a Shopaholic

These may change but they usually keep them on board for a month or so. Mainly G rated and the others will probably show later in the evening or late afternoon.

Don't forget the best movies ever!!! Pirates 1, 2 & 3! Nothing beats Johnny Depp at sea. Ahhh, I'm in LOVE WITH THAT MAN!!!!!

I wonder if Ponyo is going to be released on the ships?

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/ponyo/

I'm a big Miazaki fan...the film is released here in theaters on 08/14...and it's a Japanese retelling of the "Little Mermaid" story.

Sounds perfect for the cruise...

i have been busy shopping , packing and not so much planning :(
I am hoping to meet up with u guys. I was also excited to hear about one planned group outing to the beach. Are we meeting somewhere the first day? I realize I am too late for the nice braclets :(

but hope to meet u guys, I am ready for some fun :)

Also I am staying 3 days after the cruise. Any suggestions on where to stay that willl be onsite fun for the kids and maybe not to far from the port.

I for one am getting sick of packing and the stuff isn't even in the suitcases yet!

Yes, we're planning beach outings in St. Marteen and St. Thomas.

We're meeting the first day at 3 pm on deck 9. The guy with the bracelets will be by the Goofy pool, not too hard to spot. A man wearing 200 plastic bracelets. What's that all about?

Can't help you with hotels at the port, but I bet there are plenty of people on here who can.

Just reposting since I have seen a lot of new names out there posting lately!

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

This is not the FE LIST, if you do ont want your name on this list, please pm me and I will remove it. It was just easier to cut and paste our current list.

This is a new list added to our FE list so others that are not participating in the FE can have their families listed here so we can all get to know one another before our trip. This is going to be known as the DISFRIENDS LIST. If you plan on coming to our meet it is by the Goofy Pool 3pm on Sail Day. If you would like to be added to this list, please pm me your info and I will be happy to add you to our list!

Cigy7 is now out of Adult sizes and only has youth sizes remaining as of 8/6. You do not need to buy the bracelets to be part of the group, if you do want the bracelets, you must pm Cigy7 to order them. I believe they will be around $1.25 each, they are just a way to recognize our fellow disboarders at a glance while onboard.
